Hi Ladies, I am going to a black tie wedding tomorrow @ Capitale in the city –- let me know if there is anything special you want me to look out for........
But I need opinions on how I should do my hair and jewelry..This is the dress I am wearing in black – and the shoes. I was thinking some sort of half up do…and jewelry - maybe a simply diamond heart necklace?

i would definitely do a simple drop necklace....or a choker necklace maybe?? and half up half down do sounds nice with it

I love this outfit. Purple is my favorite color. Black tie shouldn't effect how you wear your hair. Wear what's comfortable. JMO, black tie means formal, tea-length isn't formal... Hopefully you won't be underdressed...

I don't think I will be underdressed because the dress is black not the color in the pic. Also, i know a few other girls going and one is wearing a halter black cocktail dress and the other is wearing a short little cocktail dress so I think I will be fine.

I went to a black tie event last night in the city, and while many of the older woman (40 and up) were wearing floor length gowns, many of the women were wearing tea length dresses (black, of course), with black pantyhouse and black shoes. I wore a tea length black taffeta dress from Ann Taylor, and it was fine.

Where did you get those shoes? I have the same dress in black also and I am wearing it to a party at the end of the month and I need shoes! TIA

I think wearing tea-ength you will be fine! I also like the idea of wearing your hair half-up-its going to be pretty all together

I agree...black tie is loosely interpreted these days. As long as you look nice you'll be fine. I think people put 'black tie' on their invites so people don't show up looking like slobs. I love the whole outfit!

THANKS GIRLS!!!!! You made me feel soo much better! I will be getting ready @ FH's house and if I have on sweatpants & sneaker my FH says I look fine so I just needed some my girls opinions!!

Love the outfit! You are going to look great! Have a wonderful time! Tell us all about it. I have never been to a black tie wedding. Post a pic or two. I'm very interested to see what the difference is between black tie and a regular wedding.

That place is incredible. I checked it out when I was looking at venues and was in awe of the interior! Their prices are a bit high but the lighting required to make that inside incredible was a bit much for me. Plus, there is absolutely no parking nearby! :( It's soooo lovely though :)
