Spitz and Peck? The RH I am probably going with says that I HAVE to use 1 of their 2 'preferred' florist do to being bonded by insurance or something. First of all this doesn't make any sense to me, have any of you heard of this? I am afraid that the RH has some sort of deal set up with the florist. They say it is mandatory to use one of them. Also I have never heard of this florist or seen any of their work. I forgot the name of the other one they mentioned. Any feedback you can give me would be really helpful. Thanks!

I haven't heard of that florist - but if you post the name of the RH, I'm sure you'll come across girls on here who used them.
You might also search the reviews for the RH you're considering, as the girls will probably also have posted about the florist they used.
HTH!

I'm sure there is some kick-back scheme involved with that. But in any event, my co-worker used Spitz and Peck and highly recommended them. I saw pictures and her flowers were beautiful.

our reception hall said the same thing at first...but then i made it VERY clear that i was using the one we had chosen already....he just wanted to meet with them & they signed an insurance waiver or something (they had handled it among themselves). sometimes all they need to do is meet with them prior to the wedding or atleast talk and everything will be fine. dont settle for anything on YOUR big day!

I think that's bs.... just ask what insurance forms they require, and ask the florists for that info... must say, that would make me question the halls business practices if they force you to use their buddies...
I also never heard of florists needing insurance I thought that was more of a DJ thing (if someone trips on a cord or some equipment goes on fire and burns the building down...)

Glen island is the same way, you have to use their house vendor for florist.

the RH I am talking about is the Royalton. I know all vendors have to have insurance and I am not concerned about that I am just concerned that it is MANDATORY to use the Royaltons florist. Thanks girls.

Spitz & Peck have been around for a long time. They did my sis's wedding 13 years ago and her flowers were beautiful.
RH should not give you a hard time about using outside vendors, as long as the vendors have a certificate of liability insurance. ALL RH require this certificate. What about your DJ or band - do you have to use their house vendor as well ?

places that require you to use their florist dont make you use a house dj or band, you can pick whoever you want.
And again ill say that the few places that say you HAVE to use their house florist, its not them recommending it but they ONLY work with that florist and you HAVE to go with it. I know this is def the case with glen island...sorry vic dont know about the royalton

Re: Have any of you heard or used this florist?
yes. my rh also said the same thing (same owners as glen island). i have 2 choices only - arcadia or diana gould. this is for centerpieces only. i can use outside vendors for bouquets and ceremony if i wish. i dont know the exact reason, but i do know the owners of the rh's and the owners of the florists have been friends for many years.

Re: Have any of you heard or used this florist?
i have heard of them and i've seen some of their work. i think they do great stuff
a lot of RH say things like this... usually your vendor just has to have a million dollar insurance policy.
most of the time the RH does get a kickback from their recomended vendors. some RH even make more from kickbacks than they do on catering b/c the kickback is all profit.
that said... Spitz and Peck are worth checking out either way. at least that's what i got when i saw them at a showcase

Re: Have any of you heard or used this florist?
I'm getting married at the Royalton this summer and I ended up using the other florist they recommend, Stefans. I went to Spitz and Peck and they were fine, but I just liked Stefan's better. However, I think no matter which florist you choose you will have good luck. I think all of the reviews about flowers posted by other Royalton girls have been positive. It is a little off-putting I think to most people at first to be limited to these florists but I've heard both florists will negotiate (at least Stefan's will) and I've heard that the prices end up being comparable to other LI florists. Also, although it's a little ridiculous, I think you can pay a fee to the Royalton to have the florist you prefer instead. Good luck!
S&P are VERY expensive and VERY nasty. A friend of mine met with them 6 months ago, and when she told them her budget, the laughed in her face and told her the meeting was over!!!!!!!!!!!!! And believe me, her budget wasn't anything to laugh at.
They are one of my recommended florists for Woodbury, and they still call me atleast twice a month - even though I haven't returned any of their calls in the last year and a half!
