Did i wait too long to have my E-party?? It is june 9th It is already set and i am happy i am having one. I have been engaged since 2004 but at the time we didnt have the $$ for it and the fact that we knew we would have a long engagement we figured we didnt have to have it so early, then have people wondering 'what happened to the wedding?' I have recieved some NO rsvps and some of them werent very nice not nasty but just the 'tone' in emails have not been very nice. Now i am starting to feel bad because some family members have said no and my Brother is having his party in AUG i am afraid they wont go to his now!
What do you think?
I am not gonna cancel the party i just wanted some other insight. My parents said they dont think it matters when u have it.

tHAT IS PERFECT. iT IS SUPPOSE TO BE A YEAR ARE SO BEFORE THE WEDDING..

my e-party /bbq is june 9th too.
i wouldnt worry about what people say. enjoy your party.. for whatever reason they have decided they can not make it.. do not let it spoil your fun.

I am sure they just have some other reason why they can't make it. Remember june is a big month for graduations!! so don't worry about it!

I have been engaged for over a year and decided it was too late for an engagement party. JMO. However, if you still want one then go for it. It doesn't have to be anything big and fancy just a chance for the families to get together before the actual wedding. Have fun!

2 people have already told me its weird i am having an E-party now since we have been engaged since christmas day of 2004 i think thats why i am getting NO's people might think i am just looking for gifts :( ah well those who r comming will have a good time!
why is that weird? Just because you saved and took your time? I think you should have told them they are weird..

IMO, I think it's too late. Again, IMO, an engagement party should be held no later than 6 months after the egagement. IMO, if you wait too long, the excitement and the newness of the engagement is gone and to me that's what you're celebrating at the party. IMO, and this has nothing to do with whether or not it's too later, if you're paying for your own e-party, than save your money and put it toward the wedding, if someone is throwing it for you that's a whole othe story... again, this is JMHO, if you want to have an e-party than have an e-party, I'm sure you and everyone who is there would have a fantastic time!!!

my parents and I are splitting it i think ( so far dad has paid for it all) but i am offering to pay for the food. They want me to have 1!

Its an engagment party celebrating your engagment. I don't think it matters when it is as long as your engaged when you have it!

I think it is totally fine -- if some people can't/won't come, that's their problem. I hope you have a beautiful engagement party -- don't forget to post pictures

I think you can have your E-Party whenever you want to. If someone doesnt agree with it then they will stay home....Go for it!

if you are feeling a bad 'vibe' it may be bc of the party and not the time frame.
NOW I DON'T AGREE WITH THIS AND I HAD AN E DINNER AND ENJOY E PARTIES but there are people - including people in my family that think that e parties are just a grab for money and don't approve of them. . . my own brother did not attend mine for this reason - he also wore jeans to my cousin's ( he was the BM) for the same reason.
but seriously don't worry about it - people will always have something to say so boogie down!
haha I know a few people who think like this too... they think all e-parties are just a ploy by the couple for money.... but it's funny that most, not all, but most of those people are the same people who throw big lavish 'wedding-like' christenings at big fancy catering halls for their 3 month old.... like the kid is really gonna remember any of it! lol
Enjoy your e-party!!! People always have something to say!! Be it your engagement, your wedding, what you choose to name your kids.. etc.
