Have to cancel the honeymoon in Mo Bay = MISERABLE
SO my FH tells me tonight that he is going to have an issue getting his passport and well I had to call and cancel the trip to Jamaica.
I am pissed to say the least because he waited till NOW to tell me...
We now OWN the airfare for a year and will not know if it is transferrable due to AIR JAMAICA being the carrier.....
SO NOOOOOW i had to call my travel agent and tell him to try and get us some where in the virgin islands or somewhere that does not need a passport.....
Ughhhhh I am really upset with him now.. and the fact that he thought of this a few weeks ago and did not tell me....

I'm so sorry you are having a tough time. I hope it works out, but PLEASE be careful with this whole passport thing. I'm pretty sure that no matter where you go these days, if you leave the states you will need a passport, at the very least to get back in. Not too sure what you guys' situation is specifically but just be careful.

I'm so sorry to hear. I'm kind of in the same boat. FH and I went to get our passports at the same time and when I got mine I was so excited. Then I found out that FH denied. See FH has 3 middle names (weird I know.lol.) And since they don't fit on most papers they don't believe it's him even thou his birth certificate says so. So they need more identification which he doesn't so we are still waiting to see what happens now. I hope I don't have to cancel.

thanks for that advice, yeah we saw that you can go some places BUT if you want to come back home you cant without a passport lol
who knows what we will do...
3 middle names??? dang lol.... I am sorry to hear that you are in a similar situation.....

HI Sweetie, what's the issue with his passport??? I ask because mine was both LOST AND EXPIRED (grrrr) and I needed a new one to get my marriage license. I used the firm my company uses to get our visas and passports for work-my stuff went to Miami on Wednesday and I had my brand new passport in my hands on Saturday. It cost like $300 but totally worth it. The company is CIBT, they're in midtown, they sent me the forms I needed, I brought everything to the post office (the agent there SEALS everything up), it went to CIBT (the Miami office had a passport appt - they have offices all over the country and will send your stuff to the first available city), they turned it around on Thurs/Fri and overnight mailed it to me for Sat. delivery.... Hey sugar.. no I wish that was the issue...
There are some other issues that he has from his past marriage that are not allowing him to get his passport and we just found this out....

You can go to ( and get home from) Peurto Rico, St Thomas and St. John with just a birth certificate.
We went to St. Thomas as one stop on our honeymoon cruise and it was beautiful. Whyndam sugar bay resort is gorgeous and the only all inclusive in St Thomas is you are looking for that. We went to their beach.
Also, the florida keys or S. Padre Island off texas are all in the US and require nothing.

I am pretty sure they have changed the law and as of a couple months ago it is now a requirement even for Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. John that you need a passport. I would check with travel agent but I recall reading about the change.

I don't know about the others, but you do not need a passport for Puerto Rico.

What about going to the US Virgin Islands. St. Thomas and St. John are amazing and you don't need passports.
Air Jamaica doesn't fly there but you can take them to Miami and get a different carrier from there.

you dont have to cancel your trip...just go to the passport agency in manhattan and he can get his passport the same day and it doesnt cost $200-300, its $95.
You need to have a plane ticket in order to go to the passport agency and get it the same day...when ur trip is 2 weeks away you call up and put in your date and you get an appointment, ive done it twice...it takes a few hours but its guaranteed, infact its the only way i know of getting a passport i never did it through the post office or anything like that

I am 99% sure that you need a passport to go anywhere outside of the US now---even the Virgin Islands. Sorry that you have to go through this! Hopefully your TA can work something out.
