Have to do 'the tip envelopes'... please help!

Please help me... I know this has been asked a MILLION times...

Who and how much to tip:

DOC (owner)... tip?
MC (owner)... tip?
DJ
Video (possibly getting owner)
Photographer (already paying a HEFTY premium for the owner... talking THOUSANDS)... tip???
Church musicians (already paid cash)
PRIEST... tip?
3 Limo Drivers... gratuity included... how much extra tip?
Makeup (owner coming to house)... tip?
Hair (owner coming to house)... tip?
Maitre 'd - suggested $375
Bridal Attendant: suggested $200
2 Captains: suggested $125 each

Do I tip the person who has been meeting with me at the RH all along, in addition to the 4 above, even if she's not there the night of my wedding?

TIA!!

Generally, tipping is optional for business owners.

DOC (owner)... tip? no, she works on her own
MC (owner)... tip? no, as long as they are an owner-- no tip and if you offer they should not accept one!
DJ: tip $100 for each person you have
Video (possibly getting owner) owner, no tip-- not the owner: $100
Photographer (already paying a HEFTY premium for the owner... talking THOUSANDS)... tip??? if he is the owner-- hellllls no! (lol)
Church musicians (already paid cash) $50 each
PRIEST... tip? hmm, this is a tuff one- i would give him either $75 or a gift like a nice bottle of wine or a GC to a really nice dinner out or maybe a gift basket of some sort with a nice TY note
3 Limo Drivers... gratuity included... how much extra tip? if gratuity is included i would give them $25 each in addition
Makeup (owner coming to house)... tip? no tip for her, it's her own company and that is included in the price-- she only works for herself so all that money goes to her
Hair (owner coming to house)... tip? same as above
Maitre 'd - suggested $375-- depending on how well he does, i would at the least pay $375 unless he is AWFUL for some ungodly reason-- but i would probably, if they go above and beyond like MD usually do, i would go to $400-$425-- they really go above and beyond most times! :)
Bridal Attendant: suggested $200 again, same theory as the MD-- if she goes above and beyond for you i would give $250... if not, just the 200
2 Captains: suggested $125 each-- same thing again, maybe $150 each if they really do good by you two.

Do I tip the person who has been meeting with me at the RH all along, in addition to the 4 above, even if she's not there the night of my wedding? if she is not there the night of your wedding then no tip but you could send a nice arrangement or gift basket with a really nice TY card... or at the very least, just a detailed TY card afterwards.

It does! Thank you!!!!!!

And, Betsy, that link from Sophie really helped, too!

I forgot Florist, too. I know you tip the delivery guys... about $10 each per location.

And the altar servers. (15 each?)

I have to say... I think I'm not tipping the church musicians. I already feel like they're nickel and diming me, for church musicians! $450 for a trio... $250 for 2 musicians when I'm only using 1... and $400 for a SOLOIST who is charging me $60/hour for 5 hours of PRACTICE time!! No tip for them!

The gift certificate for the priest sounds like a REALLY nice idea!

Thank you!

HTH Sarah! I remember this being such a testy topic at times with LIW girls, so I always just recommend what Sophie wrote b/c it worked for me.

I agree w/ others...I would do

DOC (owner)... tip? Only if you feel she went above and beyond what you expected
MC (owner)... tip? same as doc
DJ 50$
Video (possibly getting owner) same as doc
Photographer (already paying a HEFTY premium for the owner... talking THOUSANDS)... tip??? same as doc
Church musicians (already paid cash) 10-20$ depending on how many
PRIEST... tip? 50-100$
3 Limo Drivers... gratuity included... how much extra tip? 25$ if you're satisfied
Makeup (owner coming to house)... tip?20% of cost
Hair (owner coming to house)... tip? 20%
Maitre 'd - suggested $375
Bridal Attendant: suggested $200
2 Captains: suggested $125 each
the md and bridal attendants sound right- depending on service of course! What about the rest of the staff?

Do I tip the person who has been meeting with me at the RH all along, in addition to the 4 above, even if she's not there the night of my wedding? Again, only if you feel she went above and beyond...tips are always appreciated, however if you think she did a good job, but nothing spectacular, you can always write a really nice 'thank you' directed to her boss or give a bottle of wine or something
