Long story short, 2 yrs ago I had an ATV accident, without wearing a helmet I crashed doing 45 MPH and landed onmy shoulder & neck. I was in the hosp for a while, but I was afriad i need some kind of surg so i never really did anything after the hosp. Just chiropra. & phys therp. So now I just had my MRI yesterday & doc said I have several Herniated disks in my Cervical spine. They need to do surg, GREAT 1 year B4 the wedding!!!!! So upset!!!! I should have taken care of this last yr, now I am gonna have a BIG OLD scare on my neck porb. I AM SOOO SCARED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()

GET A SECOND OPINION.
I worked for many years for a orthopedic surgeon that specialized in the spine. I can tell you that there are many alternatives to surgery that can help the discs flatten and become asymptomatic. surgery should always be a last resort. you should find a surgeon who is conservative (meaning explores all options) rather than someone that goes right for the scalpel. the doctor I worked for is conservative but a great surgeon (and I didn't really care for him much as a person until recently) epidural steroid injections are one thing that comes to mind. obviously I don't know what your treatment has been thus far, but you should really exhaust all other modalities before you go under the knife.
