have to pick my dress up at David's Bridal before alterations?!!?
Ok...so I ordered my dress from David's bridal back in January. I am not getting married until October. However, at the time, I just ordered and it was done. About 5 weeks ago, I went there w/my mom to have her try a dress she had seen there. She liked it and ordered it. We then made an appt for the last week in July for alterations. I got a call yesterday and the woman left me a message stating that I 'really should be picking up my dress this weekend or beginning of next week' and that my mom's dress was in too and it needed to picked up. UMMM...I am pretty sure I wouldn't have ordered my dress when I did if I needed to take it between the time it came in and my first alteration.
The point of my post is to see if this has happened to any one else and if you guys think I should argue w/them or something. I am really nervous about bringing it home and storing it for two months....UGH!!!! Thoughts?? Suggestions?

I got my dress from them too. I kept it in my house for months in a garment bag and it was fine. HTH

I'd just call and ask if they could store it for you. They'll probably say yes.

Yes, this is what they do. It is quite annoying. I have mine at home already and I am not getting married to January!!!!!!! Annoying I know. The only plus I can think of, is u can looka t it if you want heheheeh

i ordered my dress from DB and it came in a week later... my dress has been at my parents house since July 28th of 2009...
i recommend you pick it up...

The dress that I tried on was brand new and never tried on. It fit perfectly so I brought it home. I asked if they could store it and they said no. If you think about it though, they have tons of people ordering dresses there and they only have so much room. I have had mine hanging on the back of my parents door in a garment bag since September and so far it is fine.

Lake Grove. They never told me. I figured it would be there and held there since I was getting it altered. The alteration ppl didn't even mention it. Just seems weird. I almost want to be like ok...then put my dress on the floor and order another one, you know?

I got my dress at DB also. They told me when I ordered it that I would need to pick it up when it came in. They cant store it there. It has been at my brothers house since last May. I went to the Long Island City store

I ordered my dress from them last Sept...and it came in in like three weeks! I have had it stored in a spare bedroom in my FIL since then....along with the three bridesmaid dresses....
They do not store dresses at DB......

we ordered bridesmaids dresses from there - apparently their policy is that they don't hold the dress there for you at all. In fact they told us that when we ordered that we had X number of days to pick them up or they get sent back
