Have to share with you our Best Man's speech

Well, we had two. Both speeches were great, but this one was trascribed, as it was a poem.

We thank Jon Bon Jovi and Derek Jeter
They were the guys that helped him to meet her

But they were too busy to bare the rings
So he settled for Matt and me, the next best things

Those guys are alright, but they don’t really know him
But I think I do, so I wrote him this poem

I teach high school science, a poet I’m not
But because I love him, I gave it a shot

You’ve exchanged your vows, and we’ve thrown the rice
Now my friend, here’s some advice

I believe for a marriage to last to the end
The thing to do is marry your best friend

Brett, your best friend Tara makes a beautiful wife
Now, together you must orchestrate a wonderful life

I am positive your love will live on like a dream
Well, as long as the Yankees field a team

Now here’s the embarrassing part of my story
A high school quarterback he was, but saw no glory

The cheerleaders decorate the seniors’ lockers, but forgot one
Depressed, not The Hutch, that didn’t stop him
He decorated his own, it was not like the rest
In fact in the end, his was the best

Banners in highlighter, “Go Hutch!” they read
Even a paper belt, “It’s Hutchy Time!” it said

It’s that attitude and sense of humor, that makes him a winner
It’s why all of us are here, to share with him this dinner

Now please join me, raise your glass of bubbly wine
Tonight, 15 years later, It’s Hutchy Time!


Today at work, his work friends made a huge banner that said 'It's Hutchy Time! 8/4/07' And they decorated his whole cubicle, complete with their table number from the wedding. How cute is that?


The locker story still kills me to this day.... Wish I knew him in high school!
