mine is pretty awful, i went to a wedding and someone died in the middle of the reception!!! someone young too, an alergic reaction to food..it was horribly sad and needless to say the day was ruined. i dont think it gets much worse then that!! But has any1 else been to one where pple fainted, or decided in the middle of the ceremony that they couldnt go threw with it??

I haven't personally but when my aunt and uncle lived in Ireland they went to a wedding where something awful/crazy happened. Weddings are a little different over there (different invite lists for ceremony, dinner and then 'reception' - drinking and dancing part). After they finished dinner and everyone was there for the 'reception', the groom stood up and gave his speech. 'I want to thank everyone for coming today. It made the day very special. But most of all I want to thank my best man and my wife for sleeping together last night. I am leaving now and will be getting an annulment tomorrow. I hope you all enjoy the rest of the evening.' And he walked out!!! As bad as it must have been, it definitely makes for a really funny story! And good for him that he waited until every person in the world that knew this awful woman was there so he could embarrass the hell out of her!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats crazy!

This doesn't seem as crazy or insane, but I've been to 2 weddings where there has been some sort of small fire.
The first was at The Metropolitan...we came back from dancing and the disposible camera was a complete ash on the table and there was a hole in the tablecloth around it. We all tried to cover it up at the table by moving the centerpiece over a little! Nobody knows how that happened!
The second was at FoxHollow. The bride had chosen large candleabra centerpieces and when the waitress came around to fix everyones napkins, she was rolling them up by picking it up and rolling it in the air, WELL, it caught fire from the candle in the centerpiece. She screamed and a guest had to extinguish the flaming napkin! It was hysterical - I'm sure NOT for the bride!

I went to a wedding where a fight broke out and the groom had to be pulled back from jumping in. Apparently there were some rowdy drunk people walking by outside the reception site (this was in the city) and they started in with some of the guests who happened to be related to the groom. I was standing just outside the door smoking a cigarette, talking to the groom when I noticed his gaze drifting. Next thing I knew he was running full speed toward the rumble. About 30 people ran after him to hold him back. The bride, luckily, was inside and missed the whole thing.

Well, here's a tragic one: I went to my cousin's wedding last year and on the way home from the reception, my cousins' aunt, aunt's son and daughter (who was the junior bridesmaid),grandfather, and the son's girlfriend ran over some glass from an accident on the other isde of the LIE that they didnt clean up, got a flat, and were hit from behind by a pickup truck as they were trying to get to the shoulder. Her aunt, junior BM and grandfather were instantly killed and the girlfriend and son were in a coma. The thing is, we also drove over the same debris and I saw like 5 or 6 cars on the side of the shoulder....with flats.... The bride spent her wedding night at the hospital with her family grieving over the loss of 3 of her closest family members. The scary thing was that we all left around the same time and their car was like 5 mins ahead of us. We were lucky.....

This is not really insane, but at my brother's wedding, a coworker of his was dancing and i guess she wanted to re-create a Flashdance scene, and got a pitcher of water and dumped all over herself on the dance floor...I was in amazement at this chick...my brother hasn't spoken to her since.

OMG- some of these are just awful. I never thought about people dying at a wedding. the first one is just awful, b/c when I started to read it i was thinking it was a heart attack or something that would have happened anyway, but the food allergy thing kinda happened because of the wedding that's awful. Unfortunately I have hear of car accidents on wedding nights before. That's awful.
Does anyone remeber the story in the news a few years ago, I beleive it was on LI, when I a photographer was taking wedding pictures outside a house & backed up into the street & got hit by a car. That was awful. What do you do then?

The ceremony didn't skip a beat though.

IT was on Long Island.. Actually it was at Autons on Old Country Road. The Photographer just kept backing up to get a shot of the bride and groom in front of the hall and I guess he didnt realize he was in Old Country road and got hit by a car and died.

I've heard this same story many times, only with little twists here and there. They said they were at a wedding where this actually happened?

yeah, the version I heard was that they all went to the reception, and the groom asked everyone to lift up their plates. Under the plate was a photograph of the bride doing naughty things to a male stripper at her bachelorette party. The groom then told everyone that he was getting an annulment and that he and the best man were going to go on the 'honeymoon' and have a good time. The best man then walked in to the reception all ready to go, wearing jeans and a tea shirt with his suitcase.

Not me or a wedding, but a person I knew, Thanksgiving story.
They were eating dinner with Grandma, clearing up from dinner, getting ready for dessert....Grandma didn't make it for dessert. She was just sitting in her chair and went peacefully.

Yup. At this point it was probably about 10 or 15 years ago (they moved back here when I was in 4th grade).

I don't know how insane this is, but I certainly laughed my a$$ off when it happened. My cousin was dancing with his new wife and I guess he had a littl etoo much to drink. He lost his balance and on his way down, he took his bride with him. They both ended up on the floor! lol! I know it's kind of mean, but I thought it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen!

Not sad like some of the stories, but I went to an old best friend's wedding and she had the cutest fairy theme with these beautiful cneterpieces made of... I guess they were little hollow logs with moss and candles and fairies floating on wires coming out of them. Hard to describe, but they were so cute. The only problem was the moss kept catching on fire from the candles. About 6 of the centerpieces had caught fire before everyone was told to blow out their candles.
