Have you ever cancelled a vendor because of this board
I know that we all use this board to get suggestions and share recommendations but have any of you ever changed your mind about a vendor after reading negative posts? I don't mean just not meeting with someone, but actually canceling after booking them and leaving a deposit. Here is my concern: I booked Elena to do my hair and makeup for my wedding day. I had a positive experience at my trial. But after reading some of the negative posts I am concerned. A few of the girls loved their trials but found their wedding day experience to be very different. Now I am concerned and am not sure if I should keep spending $$ having trials with other stylists or not. Thanks- Michele

I have to admit I am a bit concerned myself...
I am concerned only about the makeup and what she will wear that day. I am thinking of having another makeup trial with her and talk to her about everything again. To answer your question I have not cancelled a vendor after negative feedback.

The only thing I can tell you is to go with your gut feeling. For every vendor -- there will be someone who had a great experience-- and someone who did not. The one thing you want to keep in mind is that you want as little stress as possible on your big day -- so if you dont have a good feeling about someone-- find someone you can be relaxed with . I used Elena-- and she was great -- she really calmed me down and did a perfect job.... But that is me... you need to do what is right for you ! Good Luck ..

Alot of things have to do with personality conflicts. I was going to look at PJCC and called first. the experience i got over the phone was not that great , and when i read negative comments on the board , and there were only negative ones , i decided to stick with the game plan. Make sure it is the service people are unhappy with as well , and that is was not just a personality conflict.. or who knows it could be both.. Good luck!! I am having my mom do my make up and I am finding some one to do my haie because I have so much of it !!! lol

Melissa ... I hope I didn't sway your decision ...
I think everyone is different. I'm looking for a different look that Elena couldn't do for me. It doesn't mean that she didn't work well for you. You've always spoke so highly of her - I didn't think that this would cross your mind. If I was you, I'd just give her a call and voice my concerns. Maybe she can do another trial for half the cost or something. Good Luck.

I am also using Elena for my wedding and also becamed concerned with all the negative feedback. I am getting married in two weeks. First off, I was happy with the way my hair came out. It was exactly what I was looking for. I was pretty happy with the makeup. It was a little heavier than I am use to because I don't wear hardly any makeup. However, we took pictures both by polaroid and real camera. The pictures look great. I definitely needed the makeup. I spoke to two of my bridesmaids that were with me during the trial. They thought she did a great job. One of them is even having their hair and makeup done by her. Also to calm my nerves I went to two other makeup artists to see the difference. They all did the same basic type of makeup. One of them was even Curtis (forgot is last name) Of Bobbi Brown makeup. He is Bobbi's right hand man. I honestly didn't think it was any better than Elena. So I have decided to stick with Elena. Worst comes to worst I can wash it all off and do it myself. However, I obviosly don't want to do that. Why don't you go for one more trial with her and see what you think. I will definitely post my honest opinion about her work after my wedding.

Thank you very much
I appreciate ALL of the feedback. I agree, not everyone likes the same things. I am so stressed over this one issue. I guess because it is not a small detail but rather a very important one. I am looking forward to hearing Karen's report. Karen can you also e-mail me [email protected] if you have any other comments after the wedding. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

i think it would depend on how i got that vendor in the first place. if it was through many reccomendations from friends and family who used them i think i would leave things alone.no offense but i trust my family more.

ELENA WAS AMAZING!
Elena did my hair and makeup for my wedding and I recommend her to all my friends.. if you were happy with your trial I wouldn't worry about it. If you are concerned.. have her come early so that if you want anything changed.. she can change it. I wouldn't worry.. She was wonderful!

I didn`t know anyone who had gotten married, I was the 1st in my family and out of my friends, so I depended a lot on this board and would not have been able to pull it off without LIWeddings. I got almost all my vendors from listings of other brides on this board (I was the First to post about Elena :] ). When I was planning the board was pretty new and there weren`t that many `newlyweds` giving advice, so it was hard to tell if people were giving advice from experience or just telling you how much they liked the vendors they booked. I`ll reiterate what someone already said, go with your gut. Also, you should feel free to ask the newlyweds, they`ll have a better sense, since they`ve already used the vendors. As for Elena, I had a great experience with her, she was dressed nicer than some of my guests and was very helpful in every way. I will never look that good again (thank god for the pictures to prove I can look that good!) Good luck to you all. Go with your gut and you will be ok. You know why you booked someone and shouldn`t let someone else`s opinion change your mind.

YES YES YES
I agree --go with your gut feeling--on our end it was our limo company-- we had booked them a year before and about 4 months or so before the wedding found out that in the previous 6 months there were 6 BB reports on them-- we gave them an opportunity to make good and they lied through their teeth-- we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt-- and after a long week of negotiating decided to cancel-- they claimed they were sending the deposit back and we werent surprised when they didnt-- and a few months back there was a message on here about them and police activity-- so i am glad we did cancel-- but with that being said-- each person has theirown opinions and expectations so def go with your gut!!
