Well, gradually over the 5 years I have known my DH I have replaced almost his entire wardrobe with clothes that I am more attracted to (a more preppy, JCrew, Abercrombie look). I find instead of giving advice giving clothes as presents always works.
ETA: I was always attracted to his body, and even his clothes, so this was a minor change. I would never suggest he drastically change his appearance, because I would be so hurt if he ever suggested that to me. I do take it into consideration if he says he likes my hair longer, shorter, etc.

I was attracted to DH immediately, (almost) and he LOVES t-shirts. I was very subtle in suggesting nicer shirts with collars, and he took the bait. I found that telling him that certain things would look good on him (which I was sincere about) worked the best.

I was totally attracted to JT when we met. He was an awesome dresser (or SO I THOUGHT!) and he was clean cut, etc. Well, it took all of two months and a trip to his apartment in Boston for me to realize that his clean shaven, well dressed look was not his norm But what did he know, he was a college kid? Anyways, four and a half years later, he still dresses like a college kid and buzzes his own head in the bathroom. I've tried to clean him up a bit, and it's certainly worked, but he works as a cameraman and mostly odd hours, so the last thing he cares about is his appearance. He'll just always be a jeans and hoodie kind of guy. I'm cool with that. I'm just glad that he at least knows WHEN to clean himself up and put on a tie AND he looks damn good when he does

i fell in love with the person on the inside not by what he wears. for a birthday or the holidays, i'll buy him a shirt or pair of pants

I was attracted to him, but I did encourage him to get a haircut (for so long he had this hidous blond dawson leary haircut), and introduce him to the wonderful world of tazors and eyebrow wax. I also help him pick out clothes when he buys them, which is rare, and I'm wokring on getting him to throw out some of the hideous shirts he's had since 7th grade.

FH has gained about 30 pounds since we met. I am still attracted to him so it doesnt bother me all that much. I am only concerned for his health as he has diabetes in his family. I was morbidly obese at one time in my life and I know that no matter howm uch a person tells you that you are heavy, it doesnt make you want to lose weigh any faster. So I tell him that I love him the way he is and when he decides to make a change, I will support him.
