Have you ever had an eye twitch...

That just WON'T GO AWAY?? My eyelid just keeps fluttering on overdrive, and it's driving me crazy. I have to read stories to the kids all day, and it's starting to affect me...any ideas on how to get it to stop??

Signed,
The 'One-eyed' twitching librarian

edited to change my name, cause Marcella made me laugh!

YEAH. I Hate when that happens.

I think it is stress related. I don't know how to get rid of it. Sorry.

Stress gets me those, and exhaustion is a big cause! Are you getting enough sleep?

Re: Have you ever had an eye twitch...

I am getting enough sleep (too much, and hubby doesn't like it) - maybe it's stress...I'm having stress with some friends, so maybe that's it...I just wish it had an off switch!

You should read them a book on hidden treasure or Peter Pan so you could put an eyepatch on to hide it LOL!!!!!!!

You could be the 'Pirate Librarian'

yes, mine was from stress. I just got a new job, and during the interview process my eye twitched for about 2 wks straight - it was REALLY annoying.

I get those when I have either late night or all night study or paper writing sessions. They are horrible - a nap usually helps them.

I had that all last month - - it's stress and eye strain.

Re: Have you ever had an eye twitch...

I used to get it in college, and the doc said it was fom eye strain.

He told to use eye drops, that seemed to help out a bit.

Re: Have you ever had an eye twitch...

I went to the doctor because this was happening to me a few years ago and he said it has to do with your thyroid. When you get a 'surge' from it, or you have an overactive thyroid, it could make your eye twitch. (This might not be the case for you, but it was for me...)

I did find, however....

Blepharospasm - Eye twitch

Involuntary eyelid twitching, caused by dysfunction of the seventh cranial nerve. Affects approximately 25,000 people in the US, usually between 50-60 years, mostly women. It may occur in presence of stressful situations, bright lights and fatigue.

Symptoms
Eyel twitch
Excessive blinking
Light sensitivity

Complementary Treatment
Nutrients and products include: magnesium, sunglasses, herbs, homeopathic remedies, acupuncture and other alternative treatments.

Self Help
Stop caffeine intake, specifically coffee, tea, chocolate or any soft drinks with caffeine
Stop smoking

Hope this helps!
