my hubby wants me to walk off but I have reservation about it

well, you could give notice, but do it soon, even if you don't have anything lined up if it is really getting to you & your husband supports you.
Sometimes places don''t even want you to stay. after you give notice.

With my job, I ahev jsut realized that there is a small window of tiem when I am usually able to get caught up & I always say I am going to leave then ( in the early summer) but I don't, and then I get all bogged down with work again.
So, this year, I am tryingto get things organized & will start looking in April, but I thikn I may leav in the summer either way- b/c if I don't do it then, I never will.

Re: Have you ever walked off the job?

yes, my first real job after college. my boss was the most evil woman on the planet. she was miserable and she was taking everybody down with her. i left a letter in her mailbox one friday afternoon saying i'd never be back. then i wrote a letter to her supervisor detailing all the verbal abuse. he eventually called me at home to ask for more info and clarification. i later heard from co-workers that she got in big trouble and changed her attitude a bit. i'm so glad i did it. it felt great!

I also say I am going to leave and there is always a small window, but I keep getting dragged back in. you know what I mean. I want to walk off this job so bad but right now it doesnt seem like the right thing to do

I rather get fired to collect then walk off. If you walk off you can not collect unemployment. But it is so hard to get fired as s tupid as that sounds

If you're fired for a disciplinary reason rather than laid off for financial reasons, you are ineligible for unemployment.

Right. Basically, make them believe they don't 'need' you and that'll get you laid off. You definitely don't want to be fired for disciplinary reasons. Plus, for the next employer, it's not big deal to have been laid off but it would be one to get fired.

Good luck!

Yes. My first job in college I worked in the WTC (so I am very glad that I quit when I did) but anyway, the job was awful. I was so miserable that the Friday of my first week, I came in at 8:30 and then around 9, I decided to pack up my s**t and go! I just put my coat on, got my bag and resigned to the office manager. It was awesome!

Yep, I did. After a year and a half, one Friday afternoon left a note in my boss' mailbox saying I wouldn't be back.

IT FELT GREAT!!!

I never have, but if my job keeps their crappy ways going I will be.

I NEVER just up and walk off

I always put in my two week notice. Even back when I was working at Burger King at 16. They had me scrubbing oil off walls but I had my pride and morals. I NEVER walk off.

Nowadays, if i were to leave, I'd still put in my 2 weeks. Now if I REALLY couldn't stand the place, I'd book my vacation for those days. If I was being snippy, I'd work the days and get paid those vacation days.

*shrug*

For me, walking away from a job would make me look bad. I would have to at least close up open items the best i could. I'd never wanted it said I left a mess behind. I may never work for THEM again, but who knows, maybe one of those co-workers I may have to work with later or interview with. I want good impressions left behind.

I have always given a 2 week notice. Trust me, there have been times where I just want to grab my stuff and head out the door. Just last week, my coworker and I were almost out the door together. We were able to calm each other down and pull thru. If it werent for her, I dont know what I'd do, oh, and the kids would have no teachers.
