Having 2 receptions!!

My FH and I will be moving back to his home state, across the country, for a year or two after we get married. Since that's where his whole family lives, not many of them (if any at all) will be making it to the wedding in New York this December. So his mother just called today and said that she's planning on throwing us ANOTHER reception party when we get back after the wedding for all of HIS side. lol. I think that's such a sweet gesture. New York will basically be filled with only my family and friends, so it's nice that he's gonna get 'his' party too. Now i get to see what a 'Country Wedding' is kinda like, as appose to a 'New York Wedding'. lol. I can't get over it though. I never expected her to even consider doing something like that for us. Aww.

OooooOooOooh! You think this means that I'll be able to wear my Wedding dress TWICE now?? jk (but that WOULD be fun, huh?)

That is great ! How nice ..... and yes wear your dress there too !!!!!!!!!!! Finally found a nice FMIL out there ... all the way in Colorado !!!!!!!

I think whether or not you wear the dress again depends on the style of the 2nd reception. Your dress might be too fancy. If it is- no reason you can't strut on over to David's Bridal to get a simple, yet beautiful gown for that reception. You can totally get one for $300!

You only get married once! (or twice in your case )

haha, you're right. I could do pretty much whatever i want in this situation. lol. It's MY wedding day... again. I'll have to find out what kind of a reception she's thinking. It obviously won't be as big and fancy as the real one in NY, with a DJ, open bar, and fancy invitations. I'm assuming that it's gonna be more like an engagement party, or rehearsal dinner kinda setting. So I'm thinking no wedding gown. Just a nice dress (esp since we're def not going thru the ceremony all over again. hehe)

It's gonna be nice to have this to look forward to after the Wedding and Honeymoon are over. We'll get home and have a whole other party awaiting us.

LOL!!! Mine in wonderful and she's in Long Island! They do exist here too! LOL

That is so nice of her to throw you a 2nd reception and also such a great thing for all the family & friends that couldn't make it to NY!!
