Having trouble sleeping with wedding about 2 weeks away
Does this happen to anyone else (or did it happen to prior brides)?
As it gets later and later at night, I just don't get tired anymore. It's not like I feel anxious or anything, I just can't seem to get tired enough to sleep at night.
I lay in bed a few hours tossing and turning then I get up and do stuff. I finally go to sleep around 1:30 or 2 am (VERY late for me -- I used to always go to sleep at 10:30 pm) and wake up at 6:30 and feel fine.
Even now I'm at work and I'd think I'd be exhausted but I feel just fine.
Is there something wrong with me? How can I fix it?
TIA for any advice anyone has!

Warm milk and melatonin. Just make sure you have 8 hours of sleep if you have to take it. I used to have horrible anxiety and went through a months-long period of not being able to sleep at all, falling asleep at 4:00 a.m. when I had to be up at 6:00, etc. As I have become less anxious as a person I haven't needed to rely on anything to sleep, but now and then, I'll fall back on my old remedy and it works like a charm.
I'm guessing you've got so much anxiety about the wedding that you're in a similar boat to where I was back then ... so if you decide to go this route, I wish you luck!

I think the strangest part is that I honestly don't feel any anxiety right now leading up to the wedding. I'm looking forward to it so much and I can't wait to be married to FH, but I don't feel nervous at all!
I just feel happy all the time.
Just not sleepy... lol

OK, then excitement as opposed to anxiety ... that's great! But still troubling for your sleeping habits.

Hello date twin!!!!!!!!
We should keep each other company late at night lol!
Well, my FH lives in NC so he wouldn't really mind, but if you live with yours, he might...

I'm sure it's just the adrenaline. It always happens to me when I'm excited about something.

I can fall asleep it's staying asleep that's my problem. If I wake up in the middle of the night (it's usually around 4-5am) I find it hard to get back to sleep. I start thinking of a bunch of things and can't seem to shut my mind off.

Re: Having trouble sleeping with wedding about 2 weeks away
A full night of sleep is overrated.... (j/k)
I have not slept a consecutive 4 hours since a few weeks before my mom passed away in 2007. I used to sleep like a rock...nothing woke me up! Not even a hurricane (which I have slept through 2).
But the feeling of excitement causes me to not sleep either and then like you I wake up feeling fine and not exhausted. My suggestion to you would be to maybe take a Simply Sleep (like Tylenol PM without the Tylenol part) or Unisom. The only reason I say this is because the couple of nights leading up to your wedding you will not be able to sleep at all and you do not want dark circles under your eyes on your wedding day.
The other thing you could try too is have a glass or two of wine. Alcohol always makes me sleepy because it relaxes me.
Good luck and I hope you are able to sleep.

This definitely happened to me. It was hard to break from it, and closer to the wedding I was up late doing things...It's normal is the best thing I can say!

Oh man. I had the same thing. I couldn't sleep at all before the wedding (1-2 weeks) and then on my honeymoon I took naps! LOL. I think its the nerves that you dont even realize you have yet. I started taking tylenol PM or nyquil to sleep through the night because I was afraid I would get bags under my eyes :) I did call the doctor and she laughed when I told her my wedding was 2 weeks away. She said its totally normal and happens to almost everyone..Try taking a really hot shower an hour before bed, it might make you tired. Good luck!

Re: Having trouble sleeping with wedding about 2 weeks away
This actually happened to me a couple of years ago and unfortunately, I never went back to how I was. I'm up until 1:30 every night (for probably the past 3 years)! I watched a special a few weeks ago about this and they said that you're internal clock changes several times throughout your life and you're body doesn't crave sleep the same way or may crave it more, depending on the point in your life you are at.... When we're little kids we go to bed early and wake at the crack of dawn, then when we're teenagers all we want to do is sleep, we go to bed late and sleep all day, then sometime around your mid to late 20's you start going to bed late and getting up early, later in your middle age and elder age periods we go to bed early and rise early... Ugh! I wish I could go back to going to bed early!!!!!

This happens to me from time to time when the wedding is really stressing me out. Maybe try not to do anything wedding related before you go to sleep so you won't be thinking about the wedding.

That's a *really* good idea! It would mean getting off this site, though... hmm...
Oddly, I noticed this 'suggested' thread from 2003 below just now. Apparently I'm not alone!!
Re: Having trouble sleeping with wedding about 2 weeks away
Well if you tend to try to go to sleep around 11 then maybe log off around 9:30 and watch some tv or read a book to get your mind away from wedding stuff. I usually do that because then i start thinking of new ideas like candy buffets lol..

Re: Having trouble sleeping with wedding about 2 weeks away
It happens to me all the time. It started in college and is still going on. I start doing things and never get tired and after cant sleep until 4 am. Sometimes I just sleep during the day because of that, which I hate.
