I think it's because I've never been to a wedding where I actually used the favors, usually they get tossed.
That's why I was toying with the idea of making a donation to a favorite charity in lieu of favors.
I don't know. If I do favors, I don't think I want me or my FI's name all over them or anything.
Any suggestions?

Charity is a nice idea. Otherwise, do chocolate or candy. Everybody likes it, and there is nothing laying around that people feel bad tossing.

i wanted a favor that everyone would use too---i didn't want it tossed in a drawer!
so i decided to get stainless steal ice cream scoops--FM me if you want more info on price and my vendor--- -as you may or may not know--i am a self-proclaimed 'wedding' researcher(every wedding related thing i do is 'researched'!!!!)! iresearched through a ton of catalogues until i found the best favor---most useful, good price, and won't tarnish!

I am hoping to make donation scrolls to the American Diabetes Assoc. I would also like to attach the scrolls to a box of Godiva chocolates if it is in my budget.
I am having clear top tins with heart silver chocolates inside. Instead of our names, the seal is a pressed flower

FH and I are also giving to a charity. I have never used a wedding favor (except the edible kind) and don't want to waste money on them. Perhaps put small bags of chocolate (kisses, etc) on the table along with the donation note.

We did jordan almonds (dh is Italian, and it's a tradition) but we also did 'Win for Life' lottery tickets and they were a hugh hit. We put them in a not card with a small note from us and a penny with the year of the wedding. We had a few winners and everyone had a great time with them!

I agree with you. I feel most people throw out the favor. We are also looking at either making a donation to a charity or doing mini-champagne bottles.

We did wine stoppers..Everyone seemed to like them. I do like the donation idea. That is very special. I also like the lotto tickets. That is very different. Here's a pic of the wine stoppers:
since you are having a december wedding, are you sticking with a winter theme? You could do small 3-4' Poinsetta plants. Since it is a few days after christmas, the price would be right, and it would add to the decor of the reception hall and the flowers. Or you could even do a christmas ornament of some kind. Just a thought.

Re: Having VERY DIFFICULT time with favors!
I'm not doing a Christmas theme, and my family is involved in the garden center/plant business, so the plant idea wouldn't really work with them,
But thanks anyway, it's a good idea.
After reading most of these posts, I think I really love the charity idea, besides, as you leave Flowerfield, the guests each get a small gift box of truffles from the hostess.
