Still up in the air with this one. Went to a couple of Travel Agents and got very different pricing. We're thinking of booking our own trip and maybe using a timeshare...some are gorgeous. We're going to Maui and Kauai definitely...possibly 2 days in Oahu as well.

Re: Hawaii

I think we are doing 2 nights in Oahu, 5 nights in Maui and 6 nights in Kaui.

I never heard of an all-inclusive in Hawaii. If there is such a thing we DEFINITELY will not be doing that. We want to explore the islands.

all I know is that we are going for 2 weeks & will be going to different islands.

it is FHs responsibility to deal with this.

Re: Hawaii

I don't believe Hawaii has any all-inclusive type resorts.

We are going for 11 nights 12 days and doing the following:

2 nights Oahu at the Outrigger Waikiki Beach

5 nights Maui at Hyatt Grand Wailiea (i think)

4 nights Kona at the Sheraton

We are flying out of Newark though to get the direct flight to Honolulu.

HTH!

Re: Hawaii

We are doing Hawaii most likely, prob. Maui and Honalulu, however, we haven't booked anything yet bc a lot of places are not taking reservations for the dates we wanna go. Probably by the end of Sept they will.

Unfortunatly, there are no all inclusives in Hawaii, unless you do a cruise, and that still doesn't include booze. If you do know of all inclusives, let me know for sure :)

You can't do Hawaii in a week IMO. So I will be doing it in 2 :)

We got the direct flight with Continental from Newark too. We are flying into Honolulu and flying out of there. Do you have a connecting flight from Kona to Newark? Or do you have to book a separate flight from Kona to Honolulu?

Re: Hawaii

We have looked into...
6 Nights in Maui at the Hyatt Inc Breakfest,
Inter Island Flight to Kauai.
Kauai 5 nights at the Hyatt.

Inc Airfare From NY to Hawaii- Inter Island- Hawaii back to TX

I was quoted at most $6,500. My travel agent said next month(Sept) The wholesalers start to buy mulitple lots at the hotels and airlines, so that would be the absolute most. She also said to rent a car, bc you will pay out your HINNEY at the hotels for dinners. But that there are many many many places to eat reasonable. She also said to do a luau in Maui bc its a show, dinner and ALLL You can drink. (That the food wasn't fantastic, but to drink it up )

I hope this helps.. FM if you have any more questions

We have to fly from Kona to Honolulu to catch the flight back to Newark.

Originally I was just going to fly out of JFK but we got such an awesome deal.

We just booked our Hawaii honeymoon today! Same package... How much were the quotes you got? We used Costco and honestly, every single TA I brought other packages to... They could never beat Costco deals! They all said something like... Costco gets the best air prices.

Try Costco, I got the same deal for $5,800 except Oahu and Kaui include breakfast + Kaui included $150 credit and Maui includes $100 credit + 2 free entrees at one of their restaurants... The only other difference is we picked a cheaper hotel in Oahu since its only for 2 nights and more touring...oh and all islands include car rental.

So far the only thing we have booked is airfare to and from Honolulu and that came out to $660 per person. The hotels I've been looking at for Maui and Kaui seem to be around $300/night so that will be an extra $3300 (11 nights total). The hotel I was looking at for Honolulu is $125/night ($250 total). So far I guess that brings us to $4870 but we still have to add rental cars for Maui and Kauai as well as airfare to the islands.

You're doing everything on your own? I was trying to do that with other vacations I planned (Tahiti, Bali, Fiji...list goes on.) I guess price everything out on your own and then if you have a Costco card see if they can get you a better deal. From what I'm told, travel agents get the better deals because they deal with wholesalers.

I need help building an itinerary! I want to have an idea of what we are doing before we get there... + know the prices of the tours/activities!

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll pick out the hotels and see what prices they can give me.

Re: Hawaii

As far as airfare is concerned, I don't think you can get something cheaper from a travel agent than what the airline is offering right?
