Hawaii girls...

What activities or excursions are you doing? We are going to Oahu for 1 night, Kauai for 6 nights and Maui for 6 nights.

In Oahu we definitely want to do Pearl Harbor. In Maui, there is the road to Hana. We are going to do a luau in either Kauai or Maui but what else should we do?

In Maui, you can go to Haleakala for sunrise and then bike down. They pick you up at about 2 am, though, to make it to the top of the crater in time for sunrise.

Definitely consider a helicopter tour in Kauai. You'll be able to see waterfalls, etc. that you cannot access otherwise.

Also, the Na Pali coast in Kauai is beautiful. We took a boat tour with Capt. Andy.

We also hired a photographer to take some pictures of us on the beach in Kauai. We used Kilohana Photography. Our photog was Ryan Metzger.

'09er crashing...

We went to those same 3 islands.

Kauai: We took a nice long drive to the 'Grand Canyon of the Pacific'. Amazing views. We also did a little boatride thing that took us to the Fern Grotto that had hula dancers and there was a story being told. Very interesting. We did some swimming at Poipu Beach and drove to different areas where there are waterfalls to see. Kauai is very green.

Oahu: We were only there for a day trip to see Pearl Harbor. Just some advice, the ferry tickets to the USS Arizona Memorial (that white floating thing that you see in pictures) was sold out by 10am. Book online ahead of time or get there early! We did get a decent pic of it and took the shuttle bus to the USS Missouri (the ship the Japanese surrendered on). We also did the submarine and an air/space museum. We were going to have lunch in Waikiki but there was so much traffic congestion getting through Honolulu we didn't have time before our flight. Waikiki beach looked like a lot of fun though. Bike rentals, restaurants, etc. Just hard to find a parking spot.

Maui: We stayed in Lahaina and there are so many restaurants (Bubba Gump, Hard Rock, Kimo's -- I recommend!, etc) and shops on Front Street. We went to the Old Lahaina Luau which was EXCELLENT! They have professional photographers there that give you a mini photo shoot, you get a gorgeous orchid lei, and a mai tai. The food was great and the show was awesome. Reservations are required though. We booked online before our trip. We also did the Road to Hana which was a fun ride. We picked up a CD and map before the road started that gave an audio tour and told you were the hidden treasures are (one of them being after a short walk off the side of the road where some snack stand was, there was a waterfall and natural pool with a swinging rope and people swimming. We also rented a jet-ski another day and did a sunset dinner cruise for our last night there.

Hope this helps!

ETA: When you get off the plane on each island there are tons of coupon books and travel guides for free. Grab a bunch! They were helpful!

A warning about Pearl Harbor - the site is under construction (building a new visitor center). They may temporarily suspend boat rides over to the memorial itself. Also when we went in November, the museum was about 1/4 of the size it was previously.

I put a whole list of things DH and I did on our previous trip and on our HM on the HM thread. There's so much to see and do - we never got bored and we're already planning our return trip in 2011!

ETA: Also please note on Pearl Harbor - NO bags are allowed! No camera bags, purses, backpacks, etc.
