Hawaii HM Dilemma long....

Our itinerary for the last week of our stay was to originally go to Kauai from Honolulu once our ship arrived at port. We would check in at the Hyatt in Kauai on Sunday and check out Wednesday. The remaining days, we would spend with our friends who live in Kauai. Our flight to NY would leave on Friday night. I get an e-mail from my friend telling me her husband got promoted and has been transferred to Maui. I am extremely thrilled for them. I was so excited I forgot about our HM plans! As I read further into her e-mail she apologized and it clicked then.
So here is our dilemma. Our flight back to NY is leaving from Kauai. Our inter-island flights from Honolulu to Kauai are booked. The inter-island flights are easy to re-route and the penalty is less than $20. We have 2 options. Please let me know what you think.

Option 1
Sunday purchase another inter-island flight from Honolulu to Maui and check in to the Hyatt.
Check out of the Hyatt on Wednesday.
Spend Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon with our friends.
On Friday we would take our re-routed inter-island flight from Maui to Kauai. This flight arrives at Kauai at 6:00 pm ish.
Leave from Kauai to NY Friday night at 11:50 pm.

Option 2
Take an inter-island flight on Sunday to Kauai.
Stay at Kauai for 5 days.
Leave Kauai on Friday for NY.

The difference between the 2 is Option 1 we get to see our friends. Note we rarely see them. East Coast, West Coast thing. They have lived in Kauai for more than 4 years. The last time we saw them was last year at their wedding in August. This option is also about $600 cheaper. The down side is the time gap between flying into Kauai on Friday and leaving for NY. Its about 5 hours. Which we could always do dinner. But what to do with our luggage?

Option 2 we end up spending about $600 more and don't see friends. But its Kauai.

Help please... FH says do whatever you feel is best. But I don't know. Besides our friends being in Maui. Is Kauai better than Maui or is it the other way around?

This option confuses me, but if it's cheaper to do, and if you get to see your friends (who I am assuming are not coming to the wedding) then I would do it!!

Edited to say: Kauai is very quiet. I am hopefully going there but I want to relax on the HM so I don't mind. It's georgeous but not alot of nightlife from what I am told. Maui is also a great island - it's a bit better in terms of nightlife and if I am not mistaken, there's this volcano tour you can do where you go early early in the morning and watch the sun rise and then bike down the side of the volcano. We are also going to try to go to Maui and do that. From what friends who have gone told me, I think that you will like Maui very much!!

Maribelle Option 1 is confusing but I have it all in my head figured out. I tried to be as simple as possible.
Valenia, you just brought up an interesting option.

This couple is coming to our wedding. They are vacationing in NY, coming to our wedding, then flying back home. We would see them 2 weeks later. We are inviting them to our RD but I know that I won't get quality time with her the week of the wedding.

I do agree with Valenia's option of leaving from Kauai.

I will bring up Valenia's suggestion to FH. Of course he will say whatever you think is best. I am def. leaning towards going to Maui and spending time with our friends instead.
I am thinking now, with their move, who knows when they will stop by the Mainland after my wedding.

Option one sounds the best. You get to save money and spend time with your friends!!
