hawaii honeymoon?

Is anyone going to Hawaii for their honeymoon? We are looking into going there but aren't sure the best way to go about booking it. Did you use a travel agency? booked on your own? Any tips are welcomed :)

I'm definitely going but since I have OCD I will be booking it on my own. However, I've read several brides book their Hawaii Honeymoons with Travel Agencies.

Yes!!! I can't wait! We booked on our own, but I have a friend in Maui that works for Hyatt help me out with hotels. I had looked into a lot of different resorts and the cruise around the islands.

For flights, go to Hawaiian Airlines directly, they have a non-stop from JFK to Honolulu and their prices were better than the other major airlines, even with the island hopper flights.

We are doing 2 days in Waikiki, 4 in Maui and 4 in Kauai. I'm still not sure the 2 days in Waikiki were the best idea, but what's done is done.

As it gets closer I will start looking into excursions that we want to do and restaurants. FH wants to skydive! I told him I would watch from the ground. I have my friend at Hyatt in Mauai and some others that have been there to help guide me.

Alaska Airlines flies to Hawaii. Alaska Airlines offers a credit card with approval they give you a companion certificate for a round trip flight with a fare of $119 and 25,000 miles.

You can use the companion fare for the flight and then the miles for hotels.

NCL has a 7 day cruise around the islands out of Honolulu

Re: hawaii honeymoon?

We are going and booked on our own. You have a bit of time but watch for when flights are released. They are always more affordable when they are first released!

We used a travel agency. I didn't want to miss anything and since we are visiting 2 islands I felt more comfortable booking through an agent. With Hawaii I didn't feel like I would save much money by booking on my own and didn't want to waste time on that when there is so much to plan for the wedding.

We went to Hawaii and it was amazing. We did the big island for 7 nights with a day trip to Honolulu (not someplace I'd want to go again because it was too city-like). We lucked out and were gifted our family friends' time share to stay in (which was amazing), so we just booked the flights ourselves. DO NOT fly American - it was by far the worst part of the trip. And definitely rent a car, that was the only thing we regretted not doing (we were able to walk most places where we were though).

My FH and I are going to book there too. If you on on the Hawaii travel website they send your free travel magazines. I know being a teacher gets me a discount on Hawaiian airlines but I think we are going to talk to a travel agent to see what they recommend and then take it from there. My FH likes to plan things on his own and do more outdoor adventure type stuff, hikes, bike rides...I've heard renting a car is a good idea as well.

We're not going for our HM but we got engaged there and booked through a travel agent for our flights and rental cars and booked the hotels on our own. I didn't want the liability if anything got messed up with our reservations for flights/cars.

Re: hawaii honeymoon?

That sounds awesome! Going to a bunch of different islands is the way to go I think that's what we're going to try and book for. Two of my friends are from Maui and highly recommended Kuaui [they said it's the least touristy and most romantic]

Thank you for eveyone's input!! For those of you that used Travel Agencies, can you PM me with a recommendation?

Is anyone breaking up the flight and staying over in California one night? Mt fiancé is not a long-distance type of traveler and he was talking about possibly entertaining that idea

We booked ours for Hawaii too. We are taking the non-stop Hawaiian Airlines from JFK which will be long but worth it. We are staying three days in Oahu and then 7 in Maui. We plan on doing a few excursions, I definite want to see Pearl Harbor, Road to Hana and the old hawaiian luau. We were thinking about doing a catamaran sail as well. Luckily we have a family friend who works for Starwood and we got a crazy deal on the hotels but if not for that, I dont know if we could have afforded it.

I've been. I used a travel agency but you can def do on your own. I did 4 nights in Kauai, 6 nights in Maui, and 2 in Oahu. I stayed at the Hyatt on all 3 islands. They typically offer a deal. I loved Kauai and Maui! Def rent a car so you can explore!
