We are staying at the Marriott in Lihue in Kuai
Sheraton in Kona on the Big Island
Resortquest Kaanapali shores hotel in Maui

If you get the entertainment book, make sure you wait for the 2008 edition to come out - let me know what is in there, I am considering ordering!

Activities and Food are really expensive on Hawaii - I am budgeting $160 per day on food and was advised that is not enough. All the activities are usually around $100 each or more per person depending on what it is. Helicopter tours are probably closer to $300 - $500 each.

We are budgeting almost as much for food and activities as we are paying for hotels, rental cars, and flights between islands.

More than I thought it would be

The entertainment book is already out for 08 (it expires 11/08) - and if you go to their website you can see some of the restuarants that offer deals.

Also for the activities - you can get the gold card for $30 and it has a bunch of half off for tours and stuff - heres the website:

Gold Card

SWEET !

I'm gonna check it out!!!!!!!

Thanks for the tip

No problem - just to clarify the entertainment book and gold card are too seperate things. When i re-read the post it made it seem like they were together.

We just booked our airfare....kaui and maui. I am so excited.

6 nights Kaui and 7 nights maui...
anyway what I definitely want to do is the Zipline, the RoAD to Hana and the Traditional Luau Zepp is trying to talk me into a helicopter ride...but I am a bit scared of the whole idea.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon Thread

I am getting married in Oahu and honeymooning on the big island of hawaii and maui. I go every summer being that FH's whole family lives there. Actually the airfares don't go up too much. I have found that the best time to book is after christmas when people realize how much they spent and then they cut back. I have never paid over $650 dollars for a ticket there. The cheapest deal yet was $480 or something. Seriously, I wouldn't worry to much about the prices jumping too high.

We are going to probably stay at the Westin in Maui and still not sure about the big island.

We are going to maui for around 5 nights and then to the big island for probably around 3. I can't wait.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon Thread

I think I'm more excited about my honeymoon than my wedding...

I am staying at the Sheraton in Oahu for 4 nights.
And the Westin Maui Resort for 8 nights in Maui.
We also got a car and the travel agent upgraded us to a convertible in Maui, I'm sooooooo excited, but we'll be dead broke when we get back. Everything looks soo expensive. I might buy the entertainment book, looks like a good idea. Can't Wait!!!!!!

I am going to Kauai and Maui In june. Funny , we are staying at Kaanapali shores as well. I love staying at beautiful hotels, but with 10 of us going, I love the idea of having a kitchen more.
Im from Kauai, and going back for my nephews graduation and to take my kids there for the summer to be with their dad.

We will be doing the Napali Coast cruise ..its a MUST.

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon Thread

Just got home from a family party and FH's cousin just returned from living in Maui for 1 yr.....they highly recommend NOT doing the bike ride down the volcano -

first of all, its really steep turns and some areas don't have guard rails (scary), second of all, it takes a long time and you are on an uncomfortable bike, and it costs close to 100 per person.

We were planning on doing this, since it seems to be the thing to do on Maui and a coworker recommended it. But after hearing this, we are going to watch the sunrise on our own in our convertible rental car and drive down to see the same views...it can be freezing on top of the volcano so at least we will have our own car with heat if needed.

Hope this helps someone else - I didn't even realize you could drive on your own.....

I actually did the bikeride down when I was young with my family (I was 14). Yes, it is steep...I fell off and smashed my knee! If you are not the adventurer, def drive back down. But the sunrise is unbelievable, nothing can compare. Definitely make sure you catch that! And it is freezing, bring some hot cocoa and a blanket to watch it!

I guess it just depends on the person. FH has done it before and loved it. We defintely are going to do it

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon Thread

We're still deciding IF we're going to do HI! We narrowed it down to these hotels- anyone have any idea on them?

Kauai: Grand Hyatt
Maui: Four Seasons
Big Island: Kona VIllage (huts)

It is about the same price as Tahiti- which is why I can't decide! I thought if we did HI it would be more affordable!!
