Hawaii Honeymooners

Where did you stay?

We are thinking of doing one week in Maui and another few days in Kuaui....

I heard the Hyatt's are amazing but are they too overcroweded with kids? We want a real honeymoon location- secluded, elegant and tropical.

We have already done the Sandals thing three times so we are looking for something different.

We did the Hyatt's in both Maui and Kauai. We loved both! I loved the spa more in Maui Hyatt than the Kauai Hyatt(the services were better I thought). The restaurants in both places were great! There was entertainment in the bars/lobby (open air lobbies I should say) in both and the guy in the Maui Hyatt sounded just like James Taylor and the lady singing at the Kauai Hyatt was great too.

There were kids to be sure but we didn't feel they were overcrowded with them. Someone we met at a luau said that most of the hotels were kid friendly (sheritan, mariott, 4 seasons). At least in Maui, that's where we talked to this person. We found there were more things to do in Maui than Kauai, but Kauai still had it's fair share. My friend stayed in the Sheridan in Kauai and loved it.

We stayed at the Sheraton in Kauai and yes - there were a decent amount of kids - but also a lot of honeymooners - we loved it there!

We stayed at the Hyatts on Kauai, Maui, and Oahu. There were kids there, but they didn't bother me. The only time I could say they got on my nerves a bit was in the pool. The Hyatts were wonderful - I definitely recommend them....I wish i was going back!

The Four Seasons Maui was unbelievable. It was fairly quiet when we went, relaxing, serene, and wonderful. We stayed on the club level, where you get complimentary drinks and delicious food! You are treated like royalty up there!! I would HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the 4 seasons!

We stayed at the Renissance in Waliea on Maui! It was a beautiful quiet resort. We were there a week and honestly I only remember seeing a hand full of childern. There were tons of honeymooners and older couples. My DH insists if we ever go back we have to stay there again, he loved it!

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners

we just got back on friday from hawaii.
we stayed at the hyatt on both kauai and maui. both were beautiful. i highly recommend them both. i personally liked kauai better because it was more relaxing, less kids, and quiet and tropical. i loved it there. (actually wish i was there right now). there's a freshwater lagoon for swimming, and the grounds are gorgeous.
the hotel in maui is also fabulous. there are more kids but only because there are more families that travel to maui since there is more to do there. we were looking to continue the relaxing, so laying by the pool is what we wanted. they were both so great!!!

Re: Hawaii Honeymooners

I've been to Kauai and Maui, and by far Kauai was my favorite island. There are plenty of things to do there, which we did, like doing a Helicopter Tour, Catamaran Sails, and sightseeing, but you gotta know where to go and see or else you'll get bored. Maui was more commercial and more people, nothing like Kauai. We stayed at the Kauai Marriott Resort and loved it, it was quiet, secluded and very tropical, not much kids at all. However, in Maui we stayed at the Westin Maui which was more crowded with people and kids, maybe thats because we were there during Labor Day Weekend, I dont know. We wanted to go back to Kauai. But the grounds and pools there were beautiful. We even visited the Hyatt in Maui and I wasn't too crazy about it because there were lots of kids and the pool was so small and packed. We also visited the Four Seasons in Maui and that was more of an elegant resort, not much kids. But the pool there was small again and like 5 feet deep, so I couldn't go in, you gotta know how to swim, and I dont! So thats my opinion to be honest. I would love to go back there again some day!
