Hawaii Questions
For those who have been to HI....what is the time difference b.t NY and there?
What route did you take to get there? (direct flight, stopovers?)
What airlines?
Thanks!

Re: Hawaii Questions
Time difference is 5 hours .... we're ahead. We flew American (nice plane, we were comfy in coach, but we got the emergency exit which I highly recommend if you're not flying first class!)
American does not have a direct flight .... we flew Laguardia to Dallas to Honolulu to Kauii. Home it was Mauii to St. Louis to New York.
We wanted the direct flight .... Newark is Continental's hub ... they do a direct, but it was twice the price & we couldn't use our miles b/c of the time of year. We have friends who are doing it this way & would recommend it if you can get it for a reasonable price. It saves quite a few hours flying ... like 4 or 5!!
Do you have the book yet?!

Re: Hawaii Questions
I don't remember the time difference I think it was 6 hours but realy not sure I was there twice but about 10 years ago.We took american airline first class both times (frequent flyer miles)
We did a connection from JFK to Los Angles then on to hawaii - we found the flight long so on the way back we spent 2 days in LA

Re: Hawaii Questions
The time difference is 5 or6 hours, I can't remember. They are earlier.Have been a few times, once with just a layover. I prefer to stop. Last time we stopped in San Fransisco but you can stop in LA or lots of other places depending on your airline.
We have only flown United because we have frequent flyer miles with them. I'm sure there are lots of other airlines that fly there too.
It's an awesome place to go, you won't be sorry!

Re: Hawaii Questions
I haven't been yet but we are booked on American. We have a lay over in LA on our way to HI and a layover in Chicago on our return. We leave out of JFK and get into LGA.I think Continental flies direct from Newark but I HATE that airport. Went there once to drop off my grandparents and it was the worst experience I ever had. Plus its so out of the way, the thought of having to pass 2 airports to get to one doesn't make sense to me.
Time difference I think is 5/6 hours. All I know is everytime I call my friend in Kauai I wake her and her hubby up. Oops!

Re: Hawaii Questions
I am flying direct on Continental from Newark to Honolulu - my FI's parents just flew it in January and raved about it - every seat has its own TV (like JetBlue) so you can watch whatever movie you want!

Re: Hawaii Questions
The time difference is 6 hours. We took a flight that stopped in LA. I dont think we waited there long until our flight to Hawaii. We flew American Airlines.
