Re: Hawaii vs. Bora Bora/Morea

Tahiti - Bora Bora & Moorea is a once in a lifetime experience - truly romantic, and truly a remote get-away from the rest of the world. The most quiet, serene and naturally breath-taking place you will ever visit. It is unsurpassed. You will see more stars in the night sky than you have ever seen before. If you are a hopeless romantic and you enjoy watching the sun rise and set each day, book your arrangements NOW! The one thing that it lacks is nightlife, so if you are looking to for a party scene on your honeymoon this is not the place for you.

Hawaii - I have never been, but I know that it's very commercialized, meaning that you don't really feel like you've left the United States. It's exotic b/c of the culture, romantic b/c of the beauty of the islands and there's tons of nightlife. But, it's not as secluded and quiet as the South Pacific. JMO.

Re: Hawaii vs. Bora Bora/Morea

Hawaii because its more developed will have better choices in terms of fine dining if you are into that. You will have fewer choices of where to eat in Bora Bora/Morea since its so secluded.

Bora Bora is more of an adventure, while Hawaii is more of a safe choice.

Re: Hawaii vs. Bora Bora/Morea

July5bride.

I was in the same situation as you. My fi and I were torn b/t Hawaii and Bora Bora. I've personally always wanted to go to Bora Bora and it didn't feel right booking Hawaii.

Like Claud said Bora Bora is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I felt that I could go to Hawaii anytime in the near future. Bora Bora is gorgeous but like Claud said there is no night life.

I say follow your heart and what you and your fi imagined what your honeymoon to be like.

Feel free to forum email me. I did a lot of research on both. I can't wait to go to Tahiti in June!

Re: Hawaii vs. Bora Bora/Morea

I considered them both too. Hawaii won for me.
I think you can't loose with either.

I based my decision on the reactions of friends who went to both. It seemed the friends that went to Hawaii gushed more over their honeymoons than the friends who did the Tahiti trip. Actually, one couple said it was no big deal to them and that it was just like the Carribean...and not worth the flight. Another couple didn't do or see much. My friends who went to Hawaii talked about the sites and spas and would go on and on.

I had been to Hawaii for a HS trip so wasn't sure I wanted to go back at first. I also wanted an more exotic trip. I also liked the huts on the water in Tahiti rather than the large resorts in Hawaii...But I have to say the trip we took for our honeymoon was a once in a lifetime trip. We stayed at the nicest hotels and ate the nicest restaurants and did lots of relaxing as well as seeing all the beautiful scenery. If you go, look into Kauai..it is gorgeous....not built up and comercial.

Good Luck!

Re: Hawaii vs. Bora Bora/Morea

I am about to book hawaii myself. I am really looking forward to staying in kaui which has the same quiet, beautiful atmosphere but after a few days we move on to another island that has things to do. I have heard alot of people say that they got bored in Tahiti despite the beauty but i still want to go one day. Those over the water bungalows are awesome! I think you will have a great time either one.
