Re: Hawaiin Honeymoon

We flew Delta there, which I wouldn't recommend. That's just my opinion, but we had a difficult time and ended up losing a day of our vacation being stuck in Atlanta.

Definitely go visit Pearl Harbor if you can--it's beautiful.

We're gonna stay in oahu for 3 days and then take an NCL cruise around the islands. It's nice because you're at each island for at least 2 days, and you're not rushed. Plus, we like that we don't need to keep packing/flying/unpacking to go to each island. Also loved that all the food is awesome and included!

OK we are flying American (God help us) and then once we are there I believe we are flying more local to Hawaii Airlines like Air Hawaii and a few others I don't recall off-hand.

The reason I say God help us with American, and I really shouldn't, but I'm terrified of flying and unfortunately the Terrorists Airline of choice seems to be anything related to America like UNITED or AMERICAN... Which makes me really nervous but I'm probably the only NUT out there who thinks like this so you should be fine if you fly them! I have to say- the prices were good.

Anywho, we are flying into San Diego and then we are flying to Oahu, Kauai and lastly Maui. We are staying at the Marriott in San Diego and then the Hilton Hawaiian Village (AWESOME) in one of their BEST towers-- I did some research on Trip Advisor about which Towers were best. It all depends on what you are looking for and where each one is situated-- for our needs this one Tower in particular (I have the long Hawaiian name written down at home) was FAB!

So, then after the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Oahu which is right on Waikikii Beach (right where you would want to be!)... We are going to Kauai and staying at the Grand Hyatt (Can't wait!!!)... It's in a prime area of Kauai with some of the best beaches and there's tons to do around that area. Then, for Maui-- this was the big kahuna...

We are staying at the Grand Wailea which is where Oprah stayed. Again, I did a TON of research on Trip Advisor and all over the internet to try and figure out what Hotels were great. Then, I saw a special on Oprah about how she stayed at the GW and I said 'if it's good enough for freaking OPRAH- then we're THERE!' I saved up our 'upgrades' for this Hotel b/c I really wanted to get a GREAT room since we are staying on Maui an entire week... So, we got a King Ocean FRONT Deluxe Suite!! We are SO excited...

It goes: Partial Ocean View (which means you can stick your head out, turn to the left or right and see the water through trees and stuff)-- sometimes the views are a little better, there's Ocean View which is basically a little further away from the ocean and you might see another building or something but a good part of your view will be water... and then there's ocean FRONT which is prime location- steps to the beach and you open the terrace door and BAM water! HTH!

If you need a good TA I really can't recommend Irene Scrofani from Liberty Travel in Commack enough!!! She is the Hawaii EXPERT-- she was very patient with us when we went over which Hotels to book 100 times, she was wonderful w/ my whole fear of flying- she was great!!! And I compared her prices to over 12 different agents and she was less than all of them BY A LOT.

OK, hope this helps- FM me if you need anything else!

We JUST got back from our Hawaiian honeymoon Saturday and had a blast. Went to Liberty Travel and Christine is Oceanside is awesome. Got us a great deal and we were treated like VIP there.

Flew United Airlines to LA then LA to Kaui (not gonna lie... it's long, but my husband's got a portable DVD player so that helped).

Stayed 5 nights in Kaui at the Grand Hyatt Regency. Beautiful. One of the nicest hotels I've ever been to and I'm a big traveler. Did a boat trip there and we also did our own touring on the Island.

You have to rent a car in Hawaii. Best way to get around.

Then we flew to Maui and stayed there for 6 nights at the Grand Hyatt REgency. B/c we did the Island hopper we got a free buffet breakfast every morning. It was a VERY nice breakfast too and is normally $27/person. Very elegant restaurant with a beautiful view of the ocean. We also got upgraded in maui too on the top floor which you needed key access to get there and there was a suite with drinks and hor derves everyday.

Wish I was still there. Enjoy!!

Re: Hawaiin Honeymoon

In terms of airlines, I recommend Northwest airlines first then continental. I am going there myself with Northwest (NWA) in July because they make the flight comfortable. YOu will be able to watch movies on demand so far as your aircraft is an airbus 330 or 333. I double checked what type of aircraft prior to booking. When I flew them on this type or aircraft in the past, most of the movies were not even on DVD yet and there were several choices. It made a 7.5 hour flight bearable.

Continental officer channels that you can tune into but its just like TV. You will have to like what is on.

For hotels, go to www.tripadvisor.com and you can read reviews about different hotels.

Good luck
