First things first, check with your church or ceremony spot & see if they have your date available. Then start looking at halls & everything starts to fall into place! This is a great board especially if you have questions!!!

Well.... since you asked My birthday is tomorrow, so we decided to celebrate on Saturday. We went out east, to the Vineyards, then to dinner. He said he wanted to go to the beach to take some photos. This wasn't too odd, because we are both surfers, and we live at the beach. So, we were walking down the beach, and eventually, we were at the spot where we first met, 6 years ago. We sat down, and I found a sand dollar in the sand. I don't know if this is odd, but I have never found a sand dollar on a LI beach! So it has some serious significance to us now!!! He started breathing real heavy, and pulled me up to my feet. Then he got down on one knee!!! I am so happy!!!!

OMG!!! That is so wonderful. I have never found a sand dollar on a LI beach either, so I would definately attach some serious significance to it!!

I like Captain Bill's a LOT. But his old job used to have their company X-mas party there, so he's on the fence about it. The water element is real important for us, but so is $$$!!!

I had a feeling you wanted on the water. We are having ours at Chateau La Mer on the water in Lindenhurst. We found it to be less expensive in comparison with a few other places, its gorgeous, they just built a huge chapel & new bridal suite and the food is incredible. I would check it out... Thanks, I totally forgot about CLM!! I will check it out! So... what is the first 'wedding related' thing I should buy for myself? I have a stack of mags already... Is it helpful to have one of those Wedding Planner binders? Is this something my extremely sentimental mom will probably buy me? AAAHHH!!! i am just so excited!!

I have found the planner on The Knot to be pretty helpful!! As for all the magazines, once you get your hall and dress, they're kind of pointless.
I would start with the hall first and foremost. That is where your date gets set in stone, and then you have the info to give all of your other vendors from there!!
And never hesitate to ask questions!! That's what we're here for!!
