He climbed out of the crib.
UH OH!!!!!!!!! We put Luke down for a nap this afternoon and he was having trouble getting in the zone. DH went in and patted his back, repositioned him, etc. and then went back to the office which is the next room over. All of a sudden, he sees Luke go trekking by. DH thought he left the side down but he didn't!! DH put him back in and called me and we watched quietly as Luke tried to get his leg up on the side again. This time he didnt have as much luck but now it's only a matter of time before he perfects the maneuver. Darn! Darn! Darn! I was hoping to get another 6 months out of him in the crib. Then just about a 1/2 hour ago, he did it again! He fell this time but didnt get hurt. I watched him try to do it again LOL he looked like Batman the way he was scaling the crib. DH is at work and I called him. He came up with the idea to turn the crib around - the side near the wall is higher. That will hold him temporarily...but not for long. Jeez! He's really not ready for a big boy bed. He's too wild and will get into trouble. I feel the gray hairs sprouting as I type this.

Re: He climbed out of the crib.
are you able to lower the mattress anymore? Were you planning to buy him a toddler bed soon, so that you can have the other baby use the crib anyway?

Re: He climbed out of the crib.
The mattress is at its lowest point.
We have a twin bed in his room and I was hoping to transition him into it around his first bday. (LOL Yeah right!) Baby #2 will come in July and will be in the cradle and I thought we could work him into the twin bed between July & October. My niece started with a twin (and side rail) at 24 months and it worked great. My SIL does have a toddler bed we can use BUT...Im just afraid of him being able to roam. Even with his room baby proofed and a gate on his door, I know he will get into trouble.
Some kids will stay in the crib or even the toddler bed without roaming but he's not going to be one of them. My nephew just got moved out of his crib and he just turned 3!!!
I think my restful nights of sleep are gone

Re: He climbed out of the crib.
If he is not ready for a bed you can put the mattress on the floor. They also make crib tent so they cannot get out the top.

Re: He climbed out of the crib.
My friend uses the crib tent so her toodler doesn't leave the crib in the middle of night. You may want to look into that.what a big boy you have

Re: He climbed out of the crib.
LOL!!
I have the opposite! Patrick climbs in!! When he was around Lukes age he attempted to break free once or twice. But, it was just a phase.
Is his matress thick? Maybe look into a thinner one.

Re: He climbed out of the crib.
I second the tent!!!My SIL had this same thing with my nieces and while I do not promote this at all figured I would tell you what happened
One of the twins decided she was going to climb out and was successful--- should be proud right, NOT!!!
well the other figures if she can do it so can I --well she fell and would you know she got hysterical (but thank god not even a scratch) and they didnt even try again--this was almost 2 years ago--(they turn 3 in April and are still in their cribs)
Now mind you they were more timid back then--prissy girls--which they are def growing out of--- but you never know Lukie might scare himself out of it--- or you just have an adorable REBEL on your hands and he is preparing you for the next 20 years!!!!!
Hope you find a solution

Re: He climbed out of the crib.
Just in case he does it again, you might want to put something soft on the floor/carpet, so if he does fall, he doesn't hurt himself. Good luck!
