He is on his way over to get the ring!!

I feel like I am parting with somethingand it is making me so upset. Of course he had to call yesterday and tell me how he sold most of his toys and he found an apartment that is so cute that we can move right into and how bad he wants things to work and of course this upset me b/c I wish it could. He is giving me the money he owes me in a certified check and I am giving him the ring. I am really upset now.

I'm so sorry to hear honey! It will be better in the long run. Again, he is willing to change when he's threatened with losing you. Well, too bad! He has had time to work things out with you and you did give him many chances. There is a better life out there for you and your daughter. Some men never grow up. He has to realize that he has to work hard to keep the things he loves the most. You are not a posession like his toys and need a lot from him. We are always here for you.

Awww Meredith -
Of course it's upsetting - the ring was the last part of you guys as a couple. And of course there's a hope in your heart that it could work out - you probably wouldn't be human if you didn't feel that way. But if your heart is telling you one thing and your mind telling you another, I say go with your heart. Cause you're heart communicates for your 'gut', and I am a firm believer in trusting the gut.

Do you see any type of future iwth him? Do you see him maturing, and are you willing to go thru the CRAP while he goes thru the maturing process? If the answer is no, then that is pretty much it.

The only other suggestion I have is considering couple counseling...if you think that is a possibility, then try it. But he should NEVER EVER be given the opportunity to treat you any less than a princess.

Meredith, let him live on his own and give him his ring. You have to stand up for Meredith or it will be the same thing all over again just in a new place.

Meredith, give him the ring and follow through with your decision. It may be worth to be away from him for a little while and if he does grow up (which really doesn't seem likely), perhaps then you can think about your future together.

Personally, if I were a guy, and had a broken engagement, i don't know why he would want the ring back. This just shows pettiness (and yes I understand the $ value behind it.)

I know I am doing the right thing it just ****s, everytime we are in this position he sounds so convincing and tells me everything I want to hear which of course is every girls fantasy to have everything she wants in life but I do know he won't come through with the promises so I have to let go.

He will respect you more, he only asked for the ring back to be spiteful. Alina said it right, he is being petty. That's all fine, a moment of sorrow for a lifetime of happiness. I hope the ring makes him happy.

you know it wont last, I can see if this was the first time and he said it but you said that he does this ALL the time
be strong and vent here all you want just dont fall for it again b/c you know the same thing will happen and he will go back to his ways that is what you told us many times
