Healthy brides- breakfast?

Original post by Suzannebride

Okay healthy brides, please let me know what you eat for breakfast! Tomorrow is my 4 month mark and I need to cut my Coffe Cart tea and muffin habit.

Re: Healthy brides- breakfast?

I usually have a bowl of Cheerios with skim milk and strawberries (or banana), a cup of decaf tea with skim milk, and one of those little orange juices (the 6 ouncer). Once in a while I'll make a smoothie with fat-free yogurt, strawberries, a banana and a packet of instant breakfast. It's a few more calories, but it's healthy and keeps me pretty full for the morning. And I usually treat myself once a week either with a fat-free/low-fat muffin, or an omelet with tomatoes - If I don't I'll binge

Most oatmeal is not good for you because of the sugar. But if you get plan or the weight loss one it has very little sugar and a lot of fiber.

Oatmeal - the weight loss one
banana
Ill add two egg whites on the weekend.

Ugh, I tried the Quacker weight control oatmeal and I couldn't even finish it. I am afraid there is no hope for me!

Did you try the cinnamon one? It is so good! You could even sprinkle a litte more cinnamon in it.

Well, trainer told me on Monday that oatmeal is fattening!!!! I had no idea. WW told me it was good!!!! SO, I switched to Natures Promise cereal (Stop & Shop's brand, like Kashi Go Lean but cheaper) with two egg whites. I will let you know what he says!!

Good luck!!!! You can do it!!!!

I'm no longer allowed to eat INSTANT oatmeal because of the sugar content in it. Maybe that's what they are talking about.

My breakfast became vegetable cups to go, from the South Beach Diet. It's a mix of spinach, green pappers, onion, egg beaters and low fat shredded cheese. I love them! And the best thing is that you can freeze them and microwave them when you want them. I make 2 batches at a time and have breakfast ready when I need it.

The recipe is on the next page! So easy, and I can't cook.

The south beach diet was amazing. I lost 20 pounds in the last 5 weeks before my wedding. You can't cheat on it though!

I have high cholesterol, so I eat instant oatmeal everyday. I get the stop&shop brand and make sure that it has the heart smart symbol on it. I put the oatmeal in a blender and then add the right amount of water. I mix it up, wait a minute and then add a bit of soy milk, which makes it creamer and drinkable.

Cereal (Special K, Corn Flakes, Total, whatever's healthy) w/ 1% milk every morning. But I need my coffee too...

hard boiled eggs, whites only...pure protein keeps you nice and full! or if I really want bread, egg whites on whole wheat toast.

Ok, here's the recipe for the veggie quiche cups to go: 1 package (10 ounces) frozen chopped spinach
3/4 cup liquid egg substitute (like egg beaters)
3/4 cup shredded reduced-fat cheese (non-fat cheese works too)
1/4 cup diced green bell pepper
1/4 cup diced onions
3 drops hot-pepper sauce (optional)

Line a 12-cup muffin pan with foil baking cups and spray cups with cooking spray.

Microwave spinach for 2 1/2 on high, then drain excess liquid.

Combine egg substitute, cheese, peppers, onions and spinach in a bowl. Mix well. Divide evenly into muffin cups. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean. (The cups may be frozen and reheated in microwave.) Serving size is two cups. (I have used zucchini in this as well, and did less onion and pepper)

Per veggie cup: (double this if you eat 2!)
77 calories
9g protein
3g carbs
3g fat (which can be reduced with FF cheese)
2g saturated fat (same as above)
160mg of sodium
10mg cholesterol
2g fiber

Re: Healthy brides- breakfast?

OK in the morning when i'm running out the door is always a mad dash... so I have a Carnation Instant Breakfast (lots of vitamins in it) with skim milk which is tasty too!!

Then at work mid morning I'll have a yogurt (light and fit). and that is enough for me until lunch. sometimes i'll have a nutrigrain bar if for some reason i'm really hungry that day. some days i'm hungrier than others. but that's what i have....

then usually turkey club for lunch and most of the time not much for dinner, something small b/c the lunch i have is pretty filling... (i guess i don't eat a lot). i had a veggie burrito with grilled chicken last night and most of the time it's something along the lines of that.

HTH and good luck!!!!!!!!!!

A slimfast shake. I don't do the diet, I just have their shakes for breakfast. Its helped me keep off the 40lbs I lost three years ago.

Re: Healthy brides- breakfast?

I found out about a week ago that the combination of Vitamin C fruit and dairy jumpstarts the metabolism, especially in the morning. Plus, 3 servings a dairy a day scientifically improves weight loss success, especially around the waist.

I HATE eating breakfast... I used to always just end up eating something carby, and I would rather save my carbs for lunch or dinner.

So, my new breakfast of choice is AWESOME! I mix skim milk with Dole frozen mixed berries, ice, weight watchers smoothies mix and a banana. Sooooo good. And I drink it on my way to work, throughout the morning... pretty much until lunch. That way, if I get hungry, I just take another sip of the smoothie. I've never been a smoothie person, but this I like. And with this one drink, I get 2 of my 3 dairies in for the day... not to mention the 2 fruits!

Breakfast for me is usually just a cup of vanilla chai tea mid-morning. (it's about 3 WW points)

Occasionally I'll have one of the following:
banana
oatmeal
cup of yougurt with granola
wheat toast with peanut butter
