Heard about fake wedding cakes on the radio....

Is this true? I was listening to z100 a couple of mornings ago and heard that when they bring out your cake in the hall it is a fake cake. That just the top or middle tier is real for you to cut through, but the rest is cardboard and the cake that is actually being passed out to your guests is from a sheet cake in the back.

Am I a moron for never having heard about this? So basically I will be spending hundreds of dollars for a fake cake?

Some halls used to do this, but I have not heard of it in a while. Usually this is done for a small wedding, that way they can still have a big, beautiful tiered cake, without wasting or paying for what they know they will not use.

ETA: If you are concerned about this, ask them about it & get it in writing.

Oh, cause on the radio they made it sound like brides weren't always made aware of this. Like the bride had to ask the baker to make sure they were getting a real cake. I am going to make a note to ask just to play my cards safe. Thanks!

Good idea, it is really the best thing, to ask if you are not sure, then you'll have one less thing to worry about!

please don't feel stupid because FH told me about this the other day and i was like what the heck are you talking about. he had to explain it to me like 10 times. i was like how is it fake if you cut through it?! lol

i never heard of such a thing--i am sure that doesn't happen--it's easy enough to find out--just ask them or try to cut all the parts of the cake the day of! LOL

That will be me the day of my wedding cutting into a cardboard cake and the entire thing topling over ontop of me..lol

They also had the subject of 're-gaining' your virginity before the wedding. I told FI and he turned white in the face..lol. More power to all those girls who can do it! I give them and there fiances a hell of a lot of credit!

lol, interested? Basically just abstaining from sex until the wedding night, or the honeymoon if you are too pooped the night of. My sister tells me all the time she was so exhausted after her wedding that they ordered pizza to there hotel room and passed out..lol.

They had all these people calling in saying they held out 10, 6, 1 month until their big day. Apparently some of these brides thought it would make the first time they did it as a married couple more special?

yeah, one guy called in, it was so funny. He was going on and on about how much he loved his gf and how they have been together for like 5 years and have spoken about getting engaged and there wedding and what not. Well apparently his gf mentioned to him that she wanted to wait from when they got engaged till there wedding day. The guy was like, 'I love my gf to death, but this is def. delaying the process.'

Careful isn't the word! Unless you want to hear the piter pater of little feet....
