One of my sisters' is preggo and had her first doctors appt and the fetus was five weeks and they didn't hear a heart beat. The doctor freaked my sister out and said it could mean she might have a miscarriage. She has been a wreck since last week. I keep telling her to calm and relax herself because its not good for the baby. She wanted to talk to her old gyno would delivered us and was our doctor and the girls in the office wouldn't let her speak to him or leave a message because she wasn't a patient anymore. Her second appt is tomorrow.
How early can you start to hear the baby's heart beat?
The fetus is now six weeks and she is eight weeks along. I told her I think the doctors were wrong with the conception time and felt it was too early to hear a beat.
I am praying everything will be all right.

Re: Heart beat
I think it might just be too early. Most ppl dont even go for their first checkups until 11weeks. Most doctors tell you to wait until like 8-10weeks and usually before they hear the heartbeat they do a sono. If I was your sister I would try to get into another gyno!! Where is she from I go to a really good one. I am on my 2nd and I am still with them and I have had some complications and they were really good.

Re: Heart beat
She shouldn't worry, my doc won't even see me unless I'm at least 8 weeks and I didn't hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks. At 5 weeks the baby is waaaay to small to hear the heartbeat yet. What a jerk doc for saying that!!!

Re: Heart beat
I went through a simialr issue last year, but I was 4 months along and I had miscarried and didnt know it. I happened to find out through 2 sonograms. Needless to day my hubby and I were devasted! Your sister should sit down and talk with her OB/GYN, the doctor should send her to have a sonogram (vaginal) and they will check the size of the fetus, and see if they can infact find a heart beat. Since a sonogram via her stomach wont work. Im sorry she is going through this, it is scary having to wait or something like this. Praying all is alright with her and that there is nothing to worry about.
