Both my girls were 160 bpm, I knew right away they were girls! Most boys have slower rates, but it also depends on the size of the baby, and many other factors. But for the most part and baby girl's heart rate is faster than a boy's.

Steph, it's not true well atleast for me.

6.5 weeks 130
10 weeks 140
16 weeks 150
17 weeks 150

And we know the sex now but the heartrates change.

I heard a cool old wives tale that if your EPT test had a dark line it's a boy, a lighter line it's a girl..

Emmas heart rate was consistantly at or below 140. It was 130-140. This baby is the same.

Mine always started very high (160 range) now I am falling about and below the 140 mark - so the wives tale is telling me I am having both - lol. I read that is very typical - for it to be high in the beginning and get lower as you get further along in your pregnancy (doesn't seem the case for Stay&John though).

Hmm...interesting. If that's true, it means I'm having a girl. FH would be so happy!

Very funny! I had a very faint line and we had a girl. Her heartrate was always on the high side...160 or higher.

We asked our doctors about that once because a friend of mine had heard that myth and she was lead to believe that she was having a girl and they said that it is not true.

They said that the baby heart rate is slower if it is sleeping and obviously if it is up and active then the heart rate is faster.

About the darker line if your pregnant... what about using the digital tests? Kinda throws off that tale doesnt it?
