Heelp! We need Ideas for what to throw after the ceremony! ...

St. Brigid brides are in need of ideas for something to 'throw' after the ceremony ... we're not allow to have anything that would make a mess! No petals, birdseed, etc.

Bubbles are an option, but what else is out there? Please help!!!!!

We used dried lavender buds. They are tiny and biodegradable. They also smell amazing. Our church loved them.

I don't remember how expensive it is, but I've seen people release butterflies - I actually had a brochure on this that I lost - but I got the name from a bridal magazine, Martha Stewart I think. Or you can release doves.

I would never release butterflies.. that is soo cruel..

hmm dried lavender.. I don';t think they'll allow it though...

I went to a wedding where they let butterflies go. Only, they didn't go anywhere. They were already dead.

I don't like the whole butterfly and dove idea...it's too sad.

I'm not doing it, I just saw it in a magazine and wanted to pass along the idea (although I saw them and none of them died, they all flew away) -but I'm throwing rose petals.

Sounds to me bubbles is the only 'appropriate' option for us. Unless we ask if we can have someone clean up?? If I find anything out or come up with any ideas I will keep you posted.

It depends on what your church defines as 'messy'. There are these streamer things that have a handle so the streamers dont really go anywhere.

The streamers stay attached to the hand-held capsule. Just have a large trash can nearby.

DO NOT DO BUTTERFLIES!!! My friend did that at her wedding, first they send you a bunch of cocoons which you have to separate and put in boxes and then by time we went set them free, they were already dead It was kind of sad and very cruel, as another bride mentioned. But the doves are a beautiful idea and so are the bubbles, the bubbles look REALLY nice

Steph,

Messy is anything that would land on the ground, have to be cleaned up, but mostly be dangerous b/c it could cause someone to slip. I understand their point, but I'm not happy about it!

What about balloons? You can release white balloons and the bubbles. I have seen that done and it looks really nice.

Have you tried asking if they will allow you if you pay a clean up fee? At first, my church said they dont allow it because it needs to be cleaned up so I asked how much would it cost for me to pay for them to clean it up and they told me $50. It seems that they should tell you it costs $50 to do the cleanup because that cost is quite reasonable but I would have never known if I didnt ask.
