heels or flats for day of

Hi ladies,

So now that I finally bought my dress I'm wondering what to do about shoes. I'm a fairly tall girl (5'6) so I don't need heels for height but I think I'd like to wear them, at least initially. I'm concerned that if I get the dress hemmed to the right length while wearing heels the dress will drag and look bad in pics if I switch to slippers at the reception. What are your thoughts... what are you ladies doing?

TIA

I was thinking about the same thing. I am 5 ft 8. And I don't know what to do either. I do want to wear heals just to feel more dressed up but i know I will be taking them off at some point during the night. If I change into another slipper type of show I am going to try to have some sort of platform or wedge to it. IDK yet bc I haven't even bought my dress.. but I do think about it. Also, I am not going to buy any huge heals.. nothing more than 3 inches.. because then I think the dress will drag too much when I change shoes.

Well, I'm considerably taller at 5'10' and this is what I'm doing. I'm wearing small kitten heels for the ceremony and outdoor pictures...it's like 1 3/4' only or something like that. My dress was ordered without extra length, even though I ASKED for it to be ordered longer, because I felt it looked too short (the sample size is my size, so it was accurate). I was told that if I ordered with extra length, then once I changed to slippers it would drag. I don't think so, because it felt a tad short barefoot too.

But that's my plan...switching to the slippers for RH pics and the reception...unless I start slipping on the marble floor, then I'll put the shoes back on so I don't crack my skull open, FH can deal LOL. I wouldn't touch the hem of the dress, I know I'm not, but I'm also a lot taller and don't have to.

If you wear heels make sure you get the same exact platform wedge sandal or flip flop

I have seen people who had heels then went to flats and were carrying their dress the entire night
Also your dress drops throughout the night as well

My heels are about 3', so I bought platform flip flops from totes/isotoner's websites. They are so cute and look very 'bridal'. That way, the flip flops won't be too far off from the height of the shoes.

I might get tiny heels... like 1'... but I feel like my dress is kind of short so nothing too tall for me. But at least when I put flip flops on later it'll be about the same length.

i'm 5' 7' and i'm planning on wearing a 2' heel
since weddng dreses are made for a 5' 9' frame with a 2' heel i don't need a hem
and i'm not worried about my dress dragging when i take my shoes off.

Are they really made with the intention of a 5'9' frame??? That would explain why mine is SHORT

I am wearing heals because I am short and FH is an Amazon. I am still going to wear slippers once my feet hurt I was thinking platform sneakers or platform flip flops

I'm really short, and I don't wanna be short on my wedding day, so I'm wearing pretty ridiculous heels...4.5' Stuart Weitzmans that are so tall I don't even need a hem anymore lol I'll probably change into platform flip flops at some point, but I love my shoes!!! I'm dying them magenta/purple to match my bow and bridesmaids!!
