I'm brand new to this site, so I wanted to say a quick hello.
My fiance and I just got engaged on 4/3. We were originally going to wait a month to start planning, but I just learned that half the places I want only have one or two dates left in my time frame (Sept - Oct 2010).
So, I've made appointments to look at the following places this weekend:
Carlyle on the Green Royalton at Roslyn Country Club Inn at New Hyde Park Carltun at Eisenhower Harbor Links at P. Washington
Does anyone have thoughts or a review of any of these places? Also, this will be our first time visiting a RH, so what are some good questions to keep in mind?
Thanks so much! Look forward to meeting /chatting with everyone on here.

Re: Hello!
Congrats and welcome!!!!!!
ive only been to the carltun out of those rh's, and i wasnt that thrilled with what we were getting for that price (dont want to offend anyone who booked JMO!!), i felt like everything was extra (which is annoying for the price they charge), and the decor was ok, the one thing that i thought it had going for itself was the outside cocktail hour patio thing and the grounds
p.s they charge extra for valet parking as well!! grrr
eta: but still go check it out, you may end up loving it!

Re: Hello!
Congrats and WELCOME! I think it's a good thing to get the RH booked and then to wait a little before planning. I was looking for September-October of 2010 and there were so many dates already taken!!

Re: Hello!
Congrats and welcome! Of those halls I only looked at the Carltun and didnt like it. I thought it was wayy overpriced for what you got. Nothing spectacular IMO. Good luck!

Re: Hello!
Thanks for all of the replies and welcomes! I've been sitting at the airport for 3.5 hours, so this has certainly helped the time go by.
I have 3 appointments this Sunday, and will post some updates after.

My cousin is getting married at the Inn later this year and has nothing but great things to say. My other cousin got married at Harbor Links a few years ago and everything was beautiful!

Re: Hello!
I'm having my reception at Carlyle!!!!!!!!!!
I went to a wedding there about a year ago and fell in love with the staff, hall, and DEF the food (mmm... gnocci!) I'm also a Sept 2010 bride.
oh, just a tip, if it's posible check out the weekend i'm getting married Sept 17-19. It's Yum Kippur weekend so you should be able to play around with prices a little bit.
