Hello! I am new to the board (engaged 3 weeks ago)
I have had this dream wedding idea for about 3 years now...I think you all can help me out...
I want to have my ceremony and cocktail hour outside and have my reception under a tent....now the only problem is, I see gorgeous places, but they wont accomodate a reception in a tent (you have to use their ballroom).
So, my question is...are there any venues on LI that you know of that will accomodate me?

I don't know of any locations, but the Snapper Inn has an out door tentlike area that they use for summer receptions. We went to a wedding there in July and it was gorgeous. The ceremony and cocktail hour was held under a seperate tent due to rain earlier in the day.
I am looking at the Bourne Mansion in Oakdale...but not sure if they allow a tented reception area. What is the National Museum of Art like? Tacky...elegant...cute...do you have any idea about prices at Art Museum?

I am having my reception at The Bourne and I'm soooooo excited about it! You really don't need to do a tented reception there because they have a large and beautiful ballroom, but if you have your heart set on it I know there are plenty of grounds with an ocean view where a tent could be set up. They also host events for large companies, 400 + people and they use a huge tent for that. It was set up while I was there a few weeks ago. I love the Bourne and am sooooo excited!! Hope you like it too!
