Don't let it upset you. I felt the same way and became so discouraged too. We looked at soooo many places. I really liked the somerely for all the reasons you described but I was hesitant on booking. Some of the things I personally didn't like we're that (at the time we went) there was no outdoor ceremony spot and we had to get married in the main room. We wanted a summer wedding so no outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour was kinda a bummer. I also loved the hotel but the rates are realllllly high and I couldn't justify asking guests to stay there so then I would of had to book an additional hotel and get a shuttle and all that stuff. They only had 2 dates open for sat in August so the BM was really pushing us to book. We kept looking at other places and comparing them but like you said, I loved the modern feel. Anyways, we went out one last time and went to our current venue and absolutely loved it! It sounds cheesey but as soon as went in we both just new. We went in the car to leave and looked at each other and said 'let's book it!' I agree with the other girls. You have time. Keep looking. You'll either love FOx hollow even more or find something you love better. Good luck!

Ps. The food at FH was ok. Went to a wedding in the winter garden room but that was like 6 years ago. Never been to Larkfield but did go check it out pre construction. I, too, liked that everything would be brand new but my fiancé hated the Tuscan look so it was not happening.

I was the same way with Bridgeview. I cried in the car on the way home because I didn't want to leave without booking!

lauren1802- The Fox Hollow room is private. It is separate from the rest of the building. Has its own entrance with separate valet, separate cocktail and its own bathrooms. :)

we went before this room was built, or maybe during construction? i cant remember. our vendors were mostly talking about the picture areas outside-- but this could really happen anywhere.

My advice would be to look at other places. It's hard to decide whether you want good food or the atmosphere you were looking for. If you continue looking you may find something you never thought you liked. I almost didn't look at the venue I chose because I didn't like that they had a restaurant open at the same time. When I walked in I just knew that thats what I wanted. I would continue to look at other places maybe even ones that have good food ratings if that's important to you. Good luck!

OK so we kept looking and yesterday we went to the sandcastle in Franklin Square.. My fiance loved it and even though its more traditional then I was thinking I really liked it too! Yes its pricey, but they give you sooooo much. I think this is our spot! :) Anyone recently have a wedding there? We go to try the food next week and im so nervous my fiance wont like it like the fox hollow! I hope this works out for us because im so tired of looking lol

FH and I booked at the Sand Castle. We knew we wanted one wedding at a time but we did go to other venues that had more then one wedding at a time and it confirmed that it just was not what we wanted. We went to so many places and either liked the menu options and didn't like the venue or we liked the venue but by the time we added everything on that we wanted, it would have cost a huge fortune. When we walked into the Sand Castle we were amazed by it and it had everything we wanted. It is pricey but worth it. I have heard wonderful things about the food and people rave about the cocktail hour selections. I went to a food tasting and enjoyed the entrees they served us. Good luck and have fun!

I totally know how u feel I was in your same boat 2 weeks ago!
we feel in love with the sterling caterers and it totally fit our budget. but iits not your typical wedding venue so I was so scared there was a reason why not to many people have weddings there, bc the food prob sucks I kept saying. even though I know a few people that went to 21st bdays sweet 16 there my moh is gong to a wedding there just this Sun they all said food is very good moh friend said I well love it I was still worried! the day off our tasting my stomach was in knots I put all my eggs in to this basket there was no other place in our budget that came close to this! but the food was delish and everything worked out! we booked a few days later with owner.

I feel your pain I wish u the best of luck and I hope the food is fabulous!!!

That's a great price for the Somerley! We were quoted more than your total WITHOUT tax and service for a Saturday in December.

I don't think the Metropolitan in Glen Cove has carpeting. It's relatively modern and 1 event at a time, though I think it only holds like 220. It has a cool bi-level ballroom and the woman we met with there was really nice.

I was just going to suggest the Metropolitan. I had a friend who just got married and the Metropolitan was very high on her list because of how modern it was. Also have you thought about a hotel wedding. Recently I stayed at the Hyatt and they have a modern ballroom. However, it does have carpeting but it's very modern. Here is a picture.

We're getting married there March 16th, and we can't be happier with our experience with them so far. The food is outstanding, it's got a great modern feel, and the no carpeting is a definite plus. We got a great price for a Sunday with 120 person minimum.

HELLPPP!! SOOOOOO TORN between the fox hollow somerly and the new larkfield manor!! - Long Island Weddings

The fox hollow cocktail lounge room can only sit about 70 people. How many are you inviting? I know when I go to a wedding I absolutely hate when there is not enough seating at cocktail hour. The room is very new and gorgeous but I feel like guests will overlook that if they are standing with their plate in their hands with nowhere to sit. They do have hightop tables but I feel like it is not the same.

HELLPPP!! SOOOOOO TORN between the fox hollow somerly and the new larkfield manor!!

I would strongly suggest The Royalton in Rosyln. Its beautiful, private, food & service is amazing (you literally get to make your menu) theres a suite dor bride & groom to spend the night & No carpets!!-l would be getting married there if 2 of my closest friends werent. I too was looking at Larkfield & Somerley. Same issues; want great food & wood floors, amongest other factors. I may end up at Larkfield bc timing but am also looking into Old Field Club.
