I can't go into details right now, but my main question is, can you get into trouble for signing paperwork for a loan when in the process of this loan you were laid off from work? I lost my job last week, but we are in the process of getting a loan to pay off our credit cards. They don't know that I lost my job, but I don't want to sign the paperwork if it says that I'm still working there, and then get into trouble because of it? Can this happen? We really, really need this loan! What do we do?

Re: HELP!!!
With our house loan, we had to sign that on the final day when we got the loan that we were still employed, and provide employment verification from our companies. I think they could retract the loan and possibly take you to court...

Re: HELP!!!
so sorry to hear that you got laid off But since you said you were laid off, it's not like you voluntarily left, right? If that's the case, then it wasn't planned, it was something you had no prior knowledge of, so perhaps just call your bank and explain what happened? I'm not sure how much time has elapsed since first applying for the loan and you being laid off, but I can't see them denying a loan if you're suddenly laid off out of nowhere. I would let them know either way - just to cover your own good name, you know? Sorry if that's not much help.

Re: HELP!!!
First, do you need your income to qualify for the loan? If not then it doesn't matter.
If you do sign and your income is needed and they find out they can call the loan. In other words you need to pay all the money back on the spot.
