HELP!!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!!

So I went to go check out my dress today and as soon as I saw it, tears of sadness came to my eyes. I have been trying to talk myself into liking my dress for the last four months and after seeing it today I just couldn't hold it in anymore. When I first tried it on, my mother and sister fell in love with it so I kinda convinced myself it was THE dress ( even though it is totally not me). So anyway , we're in the car going home and I'm trying to hold it in when my mother starts driving a different way. She stops at a different bridal store and says, ' This is one of the most important days of your life, and I now realize that if that is not the dress YOU want, then we'll find you a new one.' First of all- do I not have the most amazing mom's in the world? Second of all- What can I do with the other dress? It hasn't been altered yet and it is a beautiful dress for somebody else...just not for me. I feel like I'm letting my mom down but I keep hearing how all of you ladies LOVE your dresses and I feel nowhere near that as of now. I couldn't get excited about getting shoes or accessories because I could't get excited about the dress.
Has anyone had a similar experience or could maybe advise me on what to do with the dress?

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

You can send me the pic and I will post it for you. Do you know the name of the designer, we can help find it?

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

I actually feel the same way about my dress. I don't LOVE it, but I am hoping that once it is altered I will. I never got that love feeling. Do look for the dress that you want. I get married in Nov and am close to getting a new dress myself. Don't worry about the cost. I think it is important that you love your dress. You mom will be happy when you are happy!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

oh no. I am so sorry you have to go thru this. I wish you good luck. Did you try talking to the Bridal Salon and see if you had any options....

Good Luck

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

Talking to the bridal salon isn't a bad idea. You may not wind up getting all of your money back, but maybe they can work out a deal with you.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

What an awesome mom! You could always post it one here and I also know that there is a site that helps girls sell wedding gowns that they have worn or no longer need due to situations like yours. I will look for the link.

DO NOT FEEL BADLY! I went through this with my wedding band- I had it made so it was not returnable and I hated it. So did my FH. So now I am sucking it up and eating raman noodles for the next sixth months to get a NEW ring. It stinks but these things are so important.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

You can talk to the bridal salon (it won't hurt), but unless it was a sample, they probably won't take it back. Most salons have a clause in the contract about this since the dresses are usually made to order.

Probably Ebay, or post on here are your best bets.

There is also a charity in Manhattan (can't remember the name), somewhere in Chelsea. They sell used gowns donated by brides. While you won't get money for it, you could use it as a tax deduction, and the charity served hosts programs for children (again can't remember the name)!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

Your mom is so great! Try e-bay... and def speak with the salon. Maybe they can sell that dress as a sample. IF they give you a store credit (hopefully for some of what you paid for), you can use it towards another dress? I hope it works out. My bet is on e-bay...you can sell anything on there!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

You girls are the best! Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and ideas.

Here's the update... I went today with my mom after work to look at a dress that I fell in love with in a magazine. The minute I looked in the mirror, I got that feeling that I've heard so much about and have wanted to feel this whole time. My mom was even so happy for me. I don't know why I was so scared to tell her the truth from the beginning. I really am so lucky that she is so understanding. Now, not only am I marrying my perfect match, I feel I have my perfect dress.

Thanks again girls for the support.
