HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am in the same boat. Couldn't get married at my church because 2/3 of our guests are from out of town.

We are getting married at the RH as the OOT guests won't have to find transportation to/from.

Think of this as an opportunity though. Because we are not having a Christian ceremony (just a civil on), we are able to have as much guest participation as we want. We are able to basically write our entire ceremony. It's about us.

ya, see thats nice you can do that. My parents dont even care if we dont get married by the catholic church- FH's do a little bit more, but I think they will understand. Especially since it will be hard for all the out of town people and the elderly people without cars to go back and forth. Plus its already paid for at Fox Hollow and I dont want to lose that money and then have to pay for transportation and worry about providing it for everyone else. Its just easier to do it in one place. Ill see what the priests I contacted say and take it from there.

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry if this answer seems clueless....Is it possible to have a small mass early in the day and then have a small ceremony at your RH for the OOT guests? Is this waaaay complicated?

That's a good option.

Honestly, our guests are coming from all over the country, too, but they are managing to get themselves to the church for the ceremony. We may provide a shuttle to/from the reception, but that's not guaranteed.

I'd never travel to someone's wedding and expect to not have to get myself to the church and reception... Even if they were providing transport to the reception, I'd still expect I'd have to find a way to get myself to the church...

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we're also having a lot of people showing up from other continents....

we arranged things so that the church, hall and hotels are all within walking distance of each other. (I know, too late of a suggestion for your situation....)

what everyone will do if it rains, I haven't got a clue We'll hope for the best

we went through this already as an option and I just really dont want to do it this way. Especially since we dont want to see eachother before the ceremony. I want to have my moment walking down the aisle and seeing him at the other end- cheesy, but thats how I feel! :)

Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think ppl are getting confused by what u really want and ask asking

u both are catholic and are getting legally married at the reception site...how do u satisfy both wants: the ease of a legal marriage at the FH and the the blessing/sacrament of a valid marriage in the eyes of a church

basically u want to get a civil marriage recognized by the catholic church (as a sacrament or whatever) when u didnt follow the rules and get married in the church.

any help on that end? did anyone else go through that/do that???

There is a way to get a civil marriage recognized later by the Catholic church... BUT it's not there for purposes of someone simply not wanting to get married inside the church building. That's just not a good enough reason in the eyes of the church not to get married in the church in the first place...

I would call other churchs and ask to speak to deacons i heard that some deacons will marry you outside the church

That's what I would do too.

Please go to this link. I believe you can get married outside of the church, you just need to get permission. This is from the diocese of rockville centre website. Places of Marriages in the Catholic Church

this is a good idea. you can always do something at the RH and get married at the church another day for your families.

The exceptions exist for marrying non-Catholics.
