Hi everyone....I'm new to this site - actually I'm South African, living in Ireland and am going to be getting married to my Danish man....hopefully in New York city somewhere.... we have only recently got engaged but had planned a trip to NY at Christmas with a very some good friends... so does anyone have any advice for us on where to tie the knot? Also where to go out for a nice meal afterwards...... Also, does anyone know if the marriage license office is open on the 24th December (we arrive in the city on the 23rd and leave again on the 28th December)?
Am so looking forward to it....... hey and do you think it'll be snowing.....??????
Any help would be gr8

Re: HELP
wow. it sounds very international.
As far the wedding office being open on Christmas Eve I highly doubt it. I don't know about the snow but everyone wishes for it around Christmas.
Best of luck

Re: HELP
I am not sure if the Town Hall will be open on Christmans Eve...you can call one to check...as for the snow....everyone wishes for snow on Christmas, although the past few years it only flurried a little...no blankets of snow on the ground

Re: HELP
yea it would be nice if it snowed every christmas.. one year it was actually springish on christmas.. went outside in a t-shirt. Most places in the city will probably be very expensive.. I would try one of the hotels.. or a museum .. it's usually a nice setting.

Re: HELP
my guess is that the town halls will be closed on Christmas Eve, or at the very most open until noon... you should start calling now to see. They should all be open again on the 26th though.

Re: HELP
Definitely call city hall and find out if they are open. I highly doubt it though. And the requirements might be different for people that live out of the country. Not sure.

Re: HELP
Thanks everyone for the info...I will definitely give them a call....does anyone have their number? I logged onto the marriage licence website and rang the number they gave BUT that was a recorded message so didn;t really help me with the opening times. I really hope that they will be open considering that we are only in NY for such a short time. so keep those fingers crossed!
