My fiance and I really want a beach wedding. (Toes in sand) But the places that I have looked at locally are not very nice. (Yucky public beach bathrooms, etc.) There are however some nice places in the Hamptons, but I think it would be very difficult for some of our guests to afford accomodations in the Hamptons in the summer. So do we have our dream wedding knowing that there will be a lot of people who can't come or do we make different plans that will allow for more people to come?I am so torn. On one hand I think what is the point of even having a wedding if no one will be there to enjoy it with you but on the other hand I am a bit sad when I think about not having the exact wedding that we wanted. What do you think?

Re: HELP!
Does it have to be on the ocean? There are some nice beachy places on the Sound. Check out Surf Club in New Rochelle. Also, we're considering Crescent Beach Club in Bayville.
Good luck!

I agree that it would mean more. I just have to convince FH of that.

Re: HELP!
i gave up my dream beach wedding cuz it was gonna be too pricey... and i didnt wanna do the new rochelle halls... so now im doin a whole caribbean theme without the sand... hehehe
if its something you're gonna look back on and say damnnn why didnt i have my dream wedding, then of course have you're dream.... otherwise, i would def try to incorporate what you really want into another hall so everyone could make it to your wedding

Have you looked at the Crescent Beach Club? You can have your beachy wedding there!
Crescent Beach Club is gorgeous, we went to a wedding there.
Also, I have heard of people getting married on the beach ... like say, in Long Beach. And then having the reception at a hall ... Bridgeview Yacht Club isn't far from Long Beach.

Re: HELP!
What about Land's End? I have a friend that works there and another friend who worked there for a long time. I just saw it in person for the first time and it is really nice. I didn't look at it for my own wedding because it is out of my price range but I figured I'd suggest it to you! Good luck finding your place!

Re: HELP!
Thank you to everyone for your suggestions. I really think I might try and adjust the logistics of our wedding (day, time) to see if we can have both. I really think it is important to have the people we care about with us on our day!

Re: HELP!
As many of the girls mentioned, it should mean more to have the people you care about with you on this special day. I wanted to have my wedding on Russo's on The Bay but a lot of my family lives out east and my church in is on the North Shore. In order to have everyone there I had to compromise.
Remember, it's just the party and at the end of the day it's not where you are but who you are with that will matter.
Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.
PS. All the places the girls above me mentioned are beautiful and I have been to most of them. I don't think you can go wrong.

Re: HELP!
Try Gurney's Inn in Montauk....It's beautiful and right on the beach. The resort has tons of rooms which I am sure would be at a discount rate if they were blocked for your wedding. Maybe several people could even stay in one room to cut costs...It is worth taking a look at ! I have been there before and highly recommend it !

Re: HELP!
I wanted to have a destination beach wedding but after doing the math we figured it would potentially be cost prohibitive for some family members-and FH was not all gung ho destination wedding. Since we are now getting married on LI (which is honestly not what I wanted-not in a bad way of course) FH is letting me do and have whatever I want so I guess thats not a bad trade off. But family is totally more important. There will be many other opportunities to take trips to fabulous beaches!!

Re: HELP!
We are doing Gurney's......There are a lot of hotels in Montauk that are reasonable so you can have you guests stay at any of those hotels. (we are renting a bus for $1K to get guests from the hotels) Gurney's to stay at is like $400 so most people won't stay there, but you can get rooms for $100 in montauk.
If you have any questions, let me know! Gurney's is a little bit rustic but it's beautiful! Also Atlantica is BEAUTIFUL but pretty pricy but there is a neighborhing Best Western. I did they research so ask me!

I love Gurneys! very nice choice- they have the best spa for Montauk another good hotel is the Beachcomber. We used to go out to Montauk every summer so I can name a few more hotels if you want.

Re: HELP!
08'r crashing Try the Sands Lido Beach. We checked it out and its beautiful. You can get married steps from the beach (They might even let you do it on the beach). Prices are reasonable too.
