Help!

I'm considering the idea of having a small destination wedding. Does this itinerary sound ok?

Tuesday - Guest arrive and recieve welcome bags

Tuesday 5:00-6:00 - Welcome Cocktail Reception with cocktails and passed hors d'oeurves. I will provide pashminas in case female guests get chilled.

Tuesday 6:00 - Guests leave for personal time (dinner or take part in activites at the hotel). Wedding party remains for rehearsal.

Tuesday 6:00-7:00 - Rehearsal

Tuesday 7:00-9:00 - Rehearsal Dinner (1st Course: Soup or Salad, 2nd Course: Fish or Pasta, 3rd Coarse: Dessert)

Wednesday - Wedding ceremony. I will provide parasols for shade, flip flops and small towels to clean feat off if ceremony is on the beach.

Wednesday - Wedding reception. (1st Course: Soup or Salad, 2nd Course: 2 fish options, 2 pasta options, 3rd Course: Dessert and Wedding Cake). Dancing.

Thursday 10:00 - Farewell Brunch with omlettes, pancakes, bagels, etc. Mimosas and bloody marys. I will provide paper fans in case guests get hot.

In the welcome bag, I will provide a list of things to do in their free time when we do not have planned wedding events. Activities guests can partake in in the area (water activities, non-water activies, golf, spa etc), a list of activities in the hotel, a list of restaurants in the area, a list of restaurants in the hotel.

Do you think there are enough things to keep our guests busy? Do you think there are any other things I can provide at the welcome cocktail reception/rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, wedding reception, and farewell brunch? Thanks!

Sorry it was so long

i think it sounds good but the middle of the week may be hard for people to do...

Yea, we thought of that. The middle of the week would be best for our family though bc some of our family members are religious and observe shabas, therefore they cannot travel or attend any events on friday or saturday, and that would kinda be a bummer considering they are traveling so far.

Well if that's the case then it sounds good.

Re: Help!

The itinerary is fine but just a couple of things I thought of:
The welcome bags-nice idea but you will probably already have a lot to pack for your special day-keep these very simple
I don't know how many guests you are planning on having but many places won't do brunches, dinners etc without a mininum of 20 people, some require more-if you think you will have only a handful of people, that might be hard to do w/o overpaying (??). Just a thought!
My sister got married last year in Cancun at an all-inclusive resort (12 guests total) so that solved that problem!!

Thanks for the advice!

OOT Bags: Two options - packs bags not already assembled and assemble once I arrive in destination OR ship bags to wedding planner in advance

Dont know yet.

Number of People: We will be having probably 60 people or so haha, so that wont be an issue.

Thanks!

Re: Help!

I was also thinking of doing a destination wedding, and I still kind of wish that I was. Our problem was that we wanted kids to be involved too, and a lot of hotels or resorts won't allow children under 16. Another problem we ran into is that my grandparents cannot get their passport, and therefore would not be able to come to our destination. Not that I'm knocking down your idea, but just consider these things if you're planning on having kids come.

Re: Help!

This just reminded me of somthing I was thinking. If guest list is really compact you can rent a villa in Italy (or anywher in Europe), hire a kosher chef, and done.

There are many packages of this sort, but I think its like for small numbers of guest 12-30 people.

It seems expensive at first, but not compared to a RH wedding for 100s of people. (then again thats 100s of wedding gifts too)
