Hi ladies.... I havent been on here in a while b/c FH and I havent really been making any wedding plans we were trying to pay off our credit cards.... well we paid off a bunch of bills are now debt free (YAY) and have decided instead of having a big 200+ person wedding we want to keep it small and simple 75-80 people and not a 5 hr reception. We want more of like a nice lunch/dinner at a restaurant or if a catering place will allow us thats fine too.
Problem is i have called some places and they hear 'wedding' and i have to take their 5 hr wedding package and the price is like a sat night wedding at a reception hall, when all i really want is some drinks and a meal, I dont even need a cocktail hour.
Does anybody know where I can do this? We would prefer somewhere near bayshore b/c that is where we are getting married but I'll take ANY suggestions you might have. I'm about to lose it.....
TIA!

a knights of columbus? yeah probably what you are referring to. I agree, its a good idea.
Or what about a place like irish coffee pub, i heard the prices are real good
or how about doing it at a hall that has smaller rooms for weddings that are about 75-80 guests.
With restaurants it can be difficult. The problem will be alcohol, many restaurants will charge ALOT for open bar. One place i went to for e-party, which i didnt book was asking for $10 per person per hour, with the amount of guests we wanted it wouldve been close to $7k just for alcohol, i also called many other places and most were trying to do the same thing.
Sometimes with restaurants it can be a bit difficult when you are trying to have this type of affair. Good luck, im sure there are some places you can do this, but another problem i came across when trying to do it at a restaurant was that for a fri or sat evening if they dont have a separate room, or even if they have a separate room but use it on regular nights, theywill charge extra just so you can have the place to yourself.
also try places that you see other girls have had bridal showers, or RD's at bc you know they will be a bit more used to handling these things and do have a private room

Did you call the riviera? I think they have a hall and a restuarant, and i know a girl who did the 4 hour reception but she did it from 1-5 in the afternoon so it was very reasonable. HTH

Re: Help!
I went to my future third cousin in law's (if that makes ANY sense lol) e-party at a place called the Fat Fish in Bay Shore. It was really nice, on the water. There was easy 75-80 people there, so it could accomodate that, and they had a buffet set up inside, with seating on the outside deck. Depending if your actual date is in November or not, you may want to look into it. The food was pretty good.

awwww i am so sorry yeah i know restaurants can be a pain when it comes to these events. I mean i had so much trouble for my e-party and at first was crushed bc i couldn't do what i had planned at first, i didnt want a catering hall wanted a different look. But after all the trouble i was getting to do this i just ended up giving up and going with a catering hall. But this is for your wedding so even more important so only can imagine what you're going through. Good luck and HOPEFULLY you find something.
I have seen weddings at restaurants, only thing is that ive seen this done in bk and the city so not sure if you would even consider it. In the city its more common and theres a few places in bk you can do this. When i look at photographers blogs i see them doing weddings, non-traditional ones at restaurants. Not sure about restaurants in LI that are accomodating for weddings.
also, i look on AG's blog, and thats where i see alot of restaurant weddings. Recently i saw a wedding at this place in queens RIGHT On the water, very very different. The pics and everything were AMAZING.
