HELP

My FH thinks we should NOT have video.... His rational is that how many times are we going to watch it?? And is it worth the $$$
I on the other hand WANT it... I guess because it would be a beautiful memory that pictures can not express... Although he has a point, I really don't want to regret not having it
HELP!!!!
Oh yea he said one of our friends can do it... On the cell phone or cameras HUH???

Re: HELP

I think video captures things that pics do not..like you realitives in action....your actual vows

There are places that you can video for cheap if he is talking about money

I think there is a post on here about video under $1000

Re: HELP

my Fh felt the same way.. I wanted it but we both knew we would only watch it a few times. We booked with Duet and when they gave us a great price for both photo and video. They gave us more than the other photographers we went to for less money so it was a go when the video was included. If not already done, check them out, they are great! Good Luck!

Re: HELP

its not unreasonable to think that way about the video... because its true... how often will you watch it... BUT i love watching wedding videos...

Re: HELP

for me it was the other way around... i don't see the point in having video and fh wants it... his argument was that photos don't capture the little things that you do on your wedding day and video does... it may cost more but you may regret it if you don't get it which is true (so we ended up getting video)

Re: HELP

I TOTALLY agree with you!! For my Bat Mitzvah, my parents said the same thing. They were like you're never gonna watch it. But I have wished so many times that I could sit down and watch that video. SO PISSED!! They actually had the nerve to say the same thing about the wedding. That was definitely NOT going to happen again!!! DEFINITELY try and convince him. Won't you want to show your children some day?

Re: HELP

I felt the same way, until someone told me that the video is what grows most in value after the wedding. As time goes on, to see people living and breathing is unbeatable. It captures all the emotion. I know pictures do too, but there's no comparing what a video captures.

I didn't want to have one, but once I realized that it's true, I decided to have a simple video on a budget. It's something I was afraid I'd regret not doing.

Re: HELP

I have asked past brides about their videos and whether or not it was worth the money. We decided against video but I can understand why you would want one. Money is a concern for us so I would rather put it else where. We would probably appreciate the video for the first couple of times and then it would find its way into a drawer or something. I think that pictures capture the moment beautifully and you can display them around your house forever. I am having one of my cousins video tape our ceremony and various parts of our reception as an alternative. Its really just preference and priorities. Good Luck!

Re: HELP

Hmmm, this may sound morbid but you can tell him that it will be a nice way of having video-taped memories of people who will be present at your wedding but may not necessarily be around in the next 30 years or so.

You can also tell him that you want your children to be able to watch it.

Re: HELP

I thought the same thing as your FH. I didn't feel video was necessary. I would say to my FH all the time - are we ever going to watch it??

Then we were visting one of my best friends. She and her hubby have been married for 18 years. We were talking about video and she bought out her old VHS tape of her wedding. We were dying - it was so much fun to watch us all from that long ago.

She told me that she and her hubby almost NEVER watch it. However, their children (now 16, 13 and 7) watch it all the time and love to see it. For her youngest, it's the only way she ever gets to see her grandma in action (my friend's mother died when she was 3) so the video brings the people she never knew to life.

That alone convinced me. We are now getting a video and I can't wait for it!

Re: HELP

I strongly urge you to get a video.. even if it is an inexpesiv eone...

THE DAY WILL FLY BY.... It will be over b4 you know it. I am actually RELYING on my video to see what I missed!!!

Also, it is a keepsake that should be cherished forever... if you have any grandparents, you might want them to say a little something on the video. It is something for you to look back on when they have passed.

Your future children would love to see Mommy & Daddy's wedding day too!!

My bm's who have children actually took out their wedding video's while during our wedding planning.. to show their kids ( our flowergirls).

You will regret NOT having it as opposed to having it. Please reconsider.

Re: HELP

WE are def having a video. IMO pictures cannot capture the real moments of a video.
Something to keep in mind, friends of ours that got married last year originally werent going to have a video. They chnaged their minds to do it and the last minute and said they have no regrets.

Re: HELP

Video is usually one of the things you tend to see alot when girls had their wedding and didn't get it say if they could do it over they would have it. The day flies by and the only way you can see it is if you have a video.

Check out Couped Up Productions!!!! His prices are awesome and his work is great.

I second Couped Up Productions. I didn't want to spend alot and his prices are reasonable. I saw his work and it's great.

Re: HELP

Are you going to be dancing with your father? Is FH going to be dancing with his mother? Do you have grandparents that will be there???

As morbid as it sounds, one of these days those most important people in your life will no longer be around. With the video, you can have those memories, moments that you may never get back again, on film forever.

I agree with you..I believe the video is so important because you can look back at the people who will no longer be around. I think that the video captures the special moments that the photographer cannot capture though a photo.

I also agree... i sometimes watch my sweet 16 video just to see my grandma and hear her voice (she passed soon after that)

Tell him you will make it part of you anniversary every year.... watch it together....

Re: HELP

once they pass, im sure i will treasure my video more than anything

Re: HELP

We both decided we didnt want video for the same reason your FH said. We just dont think we are going to watch the video that often and would rather the still pictures.
