Any brides to be out there that can give idea's on how to draw the line on obtrusive parents?? We went to look at a hall this weekend and OMG. My mother and step mother were driving me INSANE... You'd swear this was their wedding and not mine!! Complaining about every thing they didn't like and critiquing things I loved till I was fuming with both of them. I actually had to go ahead and book another appointment with this hall so that just me and FH can go down in peace!!
(me and FH are the ones paying for everything so we are the ones allowing their input, but its becoming intolerable)

Do not include your parents when looking at venues or other vendors that is my opinion! You can share with them after the fact b/c it should be only about you and FH and what the two of you love. If they have comments at that point still I would gently remind them that you are the ones getting married not them!

This is very easy to fix. Sit the both of them down, tell the two of them to get together, choose one of the three venues you & FH picked, PAY FOR IT IN FULL, TIPS INCLUDED! Than you & your FH will show up on that day & party. If they do not want to get up off their check books. They should be left out of the process & told to keep their opinions to themselves! My FMIL started with the same B/S. She had a problem with us having our party in my uncle's back yard. When I told her to PAY UP OR SHUT UP! The B/S stopped. FH was behind me the whole way.

I agree with the other girls ... don't invite your FIL. They'll probably be upset to begin with, but they'll get over it
FH and I didn't invite anyone with us for any appointment for this very reason. The families will come with us to the food tasting and that's about it.

The FH and I are doing everything on our own. Once we have made a decision, then we tell out parents what we have chosen.
Until either of them say 'oh we'll pay for that' their opinions are not needed.

I agree....if you have family that are like that..do not take them with you! Go with your FH since its your day!
