Help a novice! If I love Bridgeview Yacht club...what else might I love?

Hi Ladies,

I am brand new to this process, and after visiting only 3 places, so far I realllly like Bridgeview Yacht Club. Given my inexperience with the scouting process i'm reluctant to book it only because I'm wondering if there are similar places that I might love more. Was wondering if anyone could help suggest other venues that are similar or have the qualities that I like about BYC?

What I love about bridgeview (not in any particular order):
1) Pricing starts under 150
2) decor of the main banquet room - has a tent feel with the draped ceiling and I really dislike anything with low, drop ceiling tiles--which is a lot of places.
3) being on the water
4) access to outdoor space is right adjacent to main dinner/dancing area (my Dad is not a dancer and likes to be able to go somewhere to chat, relax with guests)
5) lack of gaudy decor. :)
6) One event at a time

The ideal place would have items 1-6 but perhaps a more wide open view and grounds?

I would appreciate any amount of help with this--Ideally we could make our visits and a decision within the next week since we are looking at September and early October 2013 dates.

Thank you in advance!!

Edited to add: oops forgot to mention: our guest list is about 225 at this point. Will be tough to get it under 200.

Depending on the amount of people you're planning on having, you might want to check out View in Oakdale - has everything you are looking for (excpet no 'tent' feel, but does have high, open ceilings). Important to know, though, they only do Sat afternoon weddings (one wedding per week), so if you want another day of the week or a Sat night, it won't work for you.

BYC is really nice, my brother and best friend got married there. The food and staff is great too. You should check out the Venetian Yatch Club too. It's not a tent feel, but on the water with a nice patio area to hang out on. Also the Riveria in Massaequa.

I don't have any suggestions of other places for you, but just wanted to let you know I am booked with Bridgeview and I absolutely love it. They have been a pleasure to work with. I went for my tasting 2 weeks ago and they took such good care of us, food was amazing and obviously you already know how great the indoor/outdoor space is there. Everything looks amazing when its set up for a wedding. Let me know if you have any specific questions about them. Good luck with your search!

How about The Bayview House at Captain Bills in Bay Shore? It has everything you're looking for.

Is Bridgeview one event at a time? I went there to look at the room for a friends bridal shower and they said that they could have a wedding going on at the same time....I think it's one wedding at a time not one event.

I just emailed my Banquet manager to check on this.
I was under the impression that it is just one event at a time.

Will report back when she answers.

I second this! If you love Bridgeview, you should book bridgeview. Nothing else compares (I may be a bit biased though )

I just heard back from her and she said this is not true. When you have your wedding there you are the only event. The entire facility is yours. On Saturdays and Sundays they may have two events in one day, but the times do not interesect each other.

I thought BYC was great, too. Others with similar characteristics that I didn't see above: Sea Cliff Manor, Chateau la Mer, Mansion at West Sayville, Thatched Cottage.

Land's End in Sayville and Lombardi's on the Sound in Port Jefferson (this MIGHT be tight though if you anticipate at least 200 guests)

Just a heads up on Harbor Club, they are no where near your price range. Prime recently bought them, and they are now named the Harbor Club at Prime. They are still renovating it now, but i know the head chef at prime and he had the B.M call me with pricing. Knowing the head chef as well as booking without seeing the finished venue, they wanted $275++ a head. Craziness. She said once they are up and running it will be 300-350++
