Help an 09er!!!

Hi ladies.... I havent been on here in a while b/c FH and I havent really been making any wedding plans we were trying to pay off our credit cards.... well we paid off a bunch of bills are now debt free (YAY) and have decided instead of having a big 200+ person wedding we want to keep it small and simple 75-80 people and not a 5 hr reception. We want more of like a nice lunch/dinner at a restaurant or if a catering place will allow us thats fine too.

Problem is i have called some places and they hear 'wedding' and i have to take their 5 hr wedding package and the price is like a sat night wedding at a reception hall, when all i really want is some drinks and a meal, I dont even need a cocktail hour.

Does anybody know where I can do this? We would prefer somewhere near bayshore b/c that is where we are getting married but I'll take ANY suggestions you might have. I'm about to lose it.....

TIA!

We are having our e-party at the milleridge carriage house this Saturday, we are having a sit down dinner with cocktail hour for about $50 a person with top shelf liquor included. we just had to guarantee 65 people. It is really nice because you can have the event in the afternoon or evening and it is the same price. If you want anymore info on it FM me!

Good Luck

we went to a wedding a few months ago at southward ho country club (west islip/ bay shore border). It was a 3 hour thing during the day. Pretty much a buffet style lunch/dinner type thing. Still very nice though. Congrats on being debt free!

try the irish coffee pub - we had our wedding there and they were absolutely amazing. we worked with stephan mahood and he listened to all our concerns and needs and was able to accommodate it all (our wedding was all vegetarian with a custom menu, among the other things they did for us).

they really are wonderful and we still get hellos and hugs when we go in there. awesome people - everyone that works there. definitely give them a call.

i agree...DO NOT use the word 'wedding' when calling these places.Since you're not looking for big CP's and a live band there is no reason to give them any reason to increase the price. I would even call and just say you would like to book a party. Noone needs to know!

My budget wedding ideas

I am obsessed with inexpensive ethnic weddings...if you are open to that, I bet a nice latin restaurant would do a good job for you!
Indian would be another choice. I so want somebody to do a German beer garden wedding as well. Another choice would be to find a place with nice outdoor space that could do a bbq. If you can find a family style italian restaurant, you could do big platters of spaghetti and meatballs and everyone will love it!
Sunday nights are the best time to do a restaurant buy-out. My party this weekend in Cali is at a nightclub from 5-9 on Saturday, nobody shows up until after then, so they were into it. if you find a place that serves dinner to the public, but not lunch, it would be ideal for a daytime buy-out.
Just a though, my friend in WI had beer only, a local microbrewery set up three kegs, and everyone was perfectly happy.

are you looking in Suffolk? Nassau?

For that small a party, I would really recommend my hall, Danfords. We had 91 people and it was just the right amount (you could totally have 75 or so and you'd just have a less crowded floor plan). They have many different options, and I don't think you'd be boxed into a 5 hr deal.

Also try Nocello's in Northport. Great Italian restaurant that does private parties and you might be able to get just what you are looking for!

You should look at Giorgio's in Baiting Hollow. I am getting married there and think they are wonderful. I believe they are offering wedding brunch packages for $55 pp. The room is beautiful and the gounds are even prettier. It's worth checking out. I highly recommend. And they have a brunch every sunday if you want to check out the food in advance.

we had my friend's 30th birthday at the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook... it was $40pp on a Saturday night and we had passed hors de oeuvres and a buffet dinner... it was a perfect sized room and we had over 50 people for her...
