I cant book my HM until around January due to FH job. Should I start looking now? Is January to late? I dont know how booking a vacation works, Ive never done it on my own. Did you guys go to a travel agent, book yourselves on line, online agents? Where do I start????? I dont even know where we wanna go! HELP!

Me neither. I would say start by reading on places like the knot honeymoon review boards (a great resource as the focus is on stuff that young newlyweds would care about) and figure out some sense of where you want to go -- adventure or beach? How long a flight. Then can start specifics.

I've just started talking to travel agents. We really don't know where we want to go or if we want to be in a hotel or on a cruise. It's so confusing!

We haven't looking into it yet either....now for the most part that's no biggie since the wedding is in September but for me that is odd - I booked almost everything in 2003 so I'm behind on this one. I'm hoping to get it squared away by November. But I do think that you are fine!

I usually book my vacation 6 months before, you pay a deposit and then 45 days before departure you have to make a final payment... not too bad... we probably wont go on HM until winter so I am not thinking about it right now...

After doing A LOT of research, we booked ours about a month ago...I know it's early, but that has been the norm with all of our wedding planning. We got many quotes from several different travel agents, but wound up booking on our own which saved us a lot of money. If you have an idea of where you're going or what hotel you would like to stay at, I highly recommend tripadvisor.com-they have tons of reviews. We also used a couple of guidebooks that are specific to Hawaii.

The first thing you need to do is budget what you want to spend on the honeymoon. Then find out how long you want to go on your honeyoon. Secondly, you need to make a list of places that interest you. What kind of honeymoon do you want? Romantic, adventurous, relaxing... Then do some online research to find out if the places you want to go are within your reach financially. If not, cross them off the list.
That should help narrow it down.

We haven't booked it yet, but we know where we're going - Jumby Bay. I couldn't get a rate for the package or flights until 11 months in advance.
Deb, a friend of mine just got married in Mauritius and went to Dubai on the way back. Everything looked amazing in the pics.

We haven't booked anything. But we are pretty much set on our destination...Aruba. We are getting married in September and want nice, consistent weather. From what the travel agent tells me Aruba is a safe place and far away from the Hurricanes.

Do a lot of research into the areas you are interested in.
My honeymoon took about 5 months to come together. Granted we did a very different kind of honeymoon - a safari - and it took A LOT A LOT A LOT of planning, researching areas, talking to different agents, finding out about Tanzania, etc ... But finally we were able to get an itnerary down and a really great agent.
It may be benefiical to you to do a lot of research in all different areas you are interested in --- you'll get to see differnt pricings and packages. And when January rolls around you can book it and call the shots.
