HELP!!!! ASAP!!

Okay, here is the deal...I am absolutely TORN between two photographers and I need unbiased opinions ASAP because one of the two photographers called to say they have another inquiry on our date.... (may be a tale..but I don't want to take the chance)

I broke down some points:

Photo guy one:
+We had an EXCELLENT connection with
+Great with follow up (which I am HUGE on)
+No pressure to book at all
+Very quick to reply with emails or phone calls
+/-Knot vendor
-No studio? (I don't think?)
-Can't find reviews (HUGE)
-No videographer
ETA: above guy has a facebook page


Photo guy two:
+Videographer included
+Lots of reviews
+/- LIW Vendor
-Little pressure to book - couldnt guarentee they could hold price quoted for longer than a day or so (mind you, we just met them this past Sat)
-Language barrier (I am by no means shallow but I have a VERY hard time communicating with people with accents- I feel like I miss every other thing they say)
-Did not meet with photographer and wont until engagement session

If you want to know which photographers they are, FM me...I just want opinions to be unbiased.

Seems like you are more comfortable with photographer one...and you have a connection with them. That is sooooo important, since this is one of the vendors who will spend your whole day with you.

I'd go with #1.

Yes, and sadly noone replied...

Doen't being a vendor for LIW or the knot hold some sort of credibility for them? I am sure sources like that wouldn't use just anyone as their vendors, right?... I mean I know different people have different experiences but I'm just trying to figure out if being a vendor for the knot makes them any more credible than say finding a name on craigslist or something?

sorry if that didn't even make sense...lol....between booking a photographer and band and working two jobs, my brain is turning into mush...that's why I am turning to the powers of the LIW ladies!

I would be hesitant to book a photographer with no studio and NO reviews. Two 09 girls were BURNED by their videographer. I wouldn't risk that. That's just me.

I agree 100 percent. I would never feel comfortable booking anyone who I couldn't find any reviews on (especially for something as important and expensive as photos). If you google a photographers name you should be able to find some sort of reviews, even if it's not on LIW. You don't have a second chance to retake wedding pictures. I would go with someone who holds no shadiness AT ALL. so my choice is number 2.

I edited because i missed the part that photog 1 is a knot vendor. That definitely does hold some credibility, like you wrote, I don't think these websites endorse just anyone. Would he be listen on the better business bureau website or no?

honestly, i didnt find many reviews on my photographer and she doesnt have a studio. But the photos that I saw on her website, blog, and in person at her home office sold me.

We met with a few other companies that included a videographer but i was very leery about not being able to meet with the photographer before booking - i wanted to be able to look at the pictures of the photographer that i was booking and personally talk to him/her.

I would say if you arent 100% comfortable keep looking around.

I don't know - I might continue looking for photographers. Thats just me though. I would never book someone without reading some type of review good or bad. I guess I just don't want a newbie taking my wedding photos.

And if the accent/communication is really a deal breaker for you - keeping looking! There are tons of amazing photographers out there. You will find one! :)

We have met with 4 other photographers and we have compared all of them to our #1 guy above....
this photographer has a company website and a facebook page but other than those two sites, crickets!

honestly i would keep looking


guy 1 needs reviews and an office... those arr big... imo

guy 2 not an option if comunication is a barrier

I'd say #1 - just the way you laid it out it's obvious that's what you really want!!

If you don't plan on looking further I would definately say #1.

FH & I looked into 8-10 photographers so far...I was having overload so we took a break..at the end of this month we are starting again

Maybe you just need to take a little break and relook at them or someone else again

I would say #1. My photographer doesnt have a studio, I dont think thats a negative necessarily. If this photographer has a facebook page cant you find some of the people in his photos and message them for opinions? Its worth a shot.
